Seal-IT: An E-Document Signing App to Revolutionize Land Transactions in Africa

The inspiration behind Seal-IT, an e-document signing app, was born out of a simple conversation about the challenges of buying or leasing land in Africa.

"I have a friend who's been trying to buy a piece of land in Nigeria for months," a colleague told me one day. "But every time he gets close to closing the deal, the third party he's working with tries to raise the price or take a bigger cut."

This story is all too common in Africa, where land transactions are often complex and opaque. Third parties, such as brokers and agents, play a vital role in connecting buyers and sellers, but they can also create opportunities for fraud and corruption.

In some cases, third parties may even try to steal land from its rightful owners. This is especially true in rural areas, where land records may be incomplete or outdated.

Seal-IT is designed to address these challenges by making land transactions more secure and transparent. By using dropbox sign technology to securely sign land documents, Seal-IT can help to eliminate the need for third parties and reduce the risk of fraud.

What it does

Seal-IT is an e-document signing app that allows users to sign and send documents electronically. It uses dropbox sign technology to securely sign documents, making it a more secure and transparent alternative to traditional paper-based signing methods.

Seal-IT can be used to sign a wide variety of documents, including land titles, contracts, agreements, and other legal documents. It is also ideal for businesses that need to sign documents with multiple parties, such as sales orders, purchase orders, and invoices.

How we built it

The core of Seal-IT lies in its seamless integration with the dropbox sign Api, which is central to all its functionalities:

Backend (Node.js): Developed specifically around the dropbox sign API and hugging face summarization task, this backend sends and fetches signature request. it also converts documents to text and summarizes it for easy reading .

Frontend (HTML & CSS): Crafted to provide an intuitive interface, making the dropbox and hugging face-driven features easily accessible.

Challenges we ran into

Summarization & Document Processing: Achieving seamless interaction between dropbox sign and huggingface for summarization queries and document signing.

Accomplishments that we're proud of
