Inspiration

We came across a talent gap in tech volunteering opportunities - the best CS professionals had no way to connect to nonprofits who needed their help.

What it does

SoftServ connects tech professionals on temporary leave [e.g. maternity leave] to non-profits who need CS-related assistance.

How we built it

Multi-page MEAN stack application, angular for front-end, node.js and express.js for back-end. MongoDB to store and serve clients. CRUD functionality on back-end.

Challenges we ran into

Current angular documentation changed very recently [during project development]. Slow local systems.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Completed task during the time allotment, created an aesthetically-pleasing front-time. Explored new tech stacks and technologies, collaborated in a group of diverse and unique individuals.

What we learned

How to use the [new] angular.js client. Basic DOM manipulation.

What's next for SoftServ

Secure funding and beta launch after the hackathon!
