Inspiration
We were inspired by the advancements made in renewable energy sources in the 21st century and a drive to convert the country to cleaner energy sources.
What it does
Our project allows the user to define areas where they would like to plan a solar energy farm and provides statistics and data to aid their plans.
How we built it
We created a webpage using html, css, and javascript and a backend server using node.js. These were deployed on the Google App Engine and are rerouted to a different domain.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into many issues arising from the PVWatts V8 API and using GoogleMaps API as well as network issues from the Google App Engine services.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Fixing our mistakes and creating a project that is fully functional and polished.
What we learned
We learned a lot about the way a node.js application is deployed and creating a backend in node.
What's next for Sol
Potentially expanding it with wind data that would be useful for planning out future wind farms.
