Inspiration
From different collection games where players have to compete to be the first to reach the item or resources before another player takes them.
What it does
The asset consists of a system in which an entity appears at a marked point (spawn point), and a UI pops up indicating that the entity has spawned. When a player collects the entity, the UI appears again and shows that the entity has been collected and by whom.
Different spawn points can be configured, as well as the spawn times and the maximum number of entities that can exist at the same time. In addition, the UI is fully customizable, allowing you to change its shape, size, colors, and text.
How we built it
Using Tyscript in VSCode with the help of GenAI Assistant
Challenges we ran into
Thinking about the best way for someone who has just joined the platform to be able to use the Asset without any problem. That’s why a lot of time was spent in the properties of each script, figuring out which options would be the best to include and which ones not to.
Also, since I don’t have programming knowledge, learning some concepts has been challenging.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Getting the system to work perfectly and how easy it is to drop it into the game and have it run right after installing it, without even touching anything, just drag and it works.
What we learned
Publishing assets has been more fun and easier than I expected, and I’m sure I’ll be using this Horizon Worlds tool more often to help others get started with their games.
What's next for Spawn & Alert System UI
When I finished the Asset, I didn’t have many future plans, but if it receives good recognition, I’d like to add more options that could make the system even more competitive among players.
