Creating Playlist
Inspiration
We were inspired by the idea of dating app formats being used for other applications and thought it would be a fun and quick method for making playlists.
What it does
Our application allows users to make playlists on their Spotify account by swiping between song recommendations. Enter the link to your favourite song, and go on a musical adventure! The recommendations adapt based on the songs users have "right swiped" on.
How we built it
We used Flask and the Spotify API to develop a web app with the goal of providing mobile accessibility.
Challenges we ran into
Early on, we ran into roadblocks with React during our frontend development. We made the decision to back track and change plans, moving to vanilla Javascript. We also had issues getting our application to play song previews.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of how we were able to use the Spotify API and managed to get the visual prototype we were aiming for.
What we learned
We all learned a lot as a group. Some of us were learning React, Python, or Javascript for the first time.
What's next for Spotify Swipe
We would love to add more features, such as being able to add genres to the users "bio", which would give more options for recommendations.
