Inspiration
We were inspired by puzzle games in general and came up with this idea. One inspiration for the design was Tetris. I really like the simple but well-made art of Tetris, and tried to recreate that in this game.
What it does
A puzzle game where you have to stack blocks together from 4 directions and reach some sort of goal with your stack. If you run out of blocks or hit a lava block, you die and have to restart. We have made a few levels that increase in difficulty
How we built it
We built it in unity with C#
Challenges we ran into
Time management and getting as little bugs as possible. One large challenge was figuring out raycasting to get the aiming to work. It is something that I have never worked with before, and I am very proud of getting it to work.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of making a fully functioning game in such a short timeframe. Specifically, we are proud of getting the blocks to look coherent in the group, as rigid bodies can difficult to work with and don't always stay in the same place.
What we learned
We learned to manage our time and to create a game as efficiently as possible. We also learned how to use line rendering, IEnumerators, and TextMeshPro.
What's next for Stacker
We plan on making more levels to make a more enjoyable arcade game.
