After gaining so much knowledge from WiC and RIT and becoming more comfortable in our STEM based majors, we wanted to spread our personal experiences to other girls interested in a career in STEM.
Inspiration - After gaining so much knowledge from WiC and RIT and becoming more comfortable in our STEM based majors, we wanted to spread our personal experiences to other girls interested in a career in STEM.
What it does - An interactive websites that takes you through different pages of advice, experiences, inspiration, history of some remarkable women within the STEM fields, and more.
How we built it - used html and a css to build a structure and design
Challenges we ran into - Getting discouraged over very minor design details that did not contribute much to the big picture, pushing ourselves to keep working but ended up stretching ourselves out too thin
Accomplishments that we're proud of - the functionality and design, and research
What we learned - gained experience in html (additional experience and first time experience), the importance of asking for help when you hit a mind block, how much easier it can be to work in a team rather than all alone.
What's next for STEM-inist - to inform young girls everywhere of the importance of bridging the gender gap in STEM fields, we would like to add some resources of articles and videos people can go to to learn more, and implementing more tools for mental health and dealing with the stress that comes with being apart of a minority in such a difficult and high demand field.
