Inspiration

Student assist was inspired by different collaboration tools such as Miro, a dynamic collaboration tool for teams.

What it does

Student assist has a variety of apps to help you stay focused and be productive. It features tools such as a task priority list, a calendar where you can book specific times for mental health breaks and a work/break timer where you can set a time to work, then an amount of time to break, proven to boost productivity. All tasks autosave information even after the user has left/reloaded the page. Another key features is our hangout rooms. Users can join a 3d hangout environment, and see their peers who have also joined that meeting using their cameras. They can talk to each other using their microphones, and collaborate over a whiteboard which updates across both users screen in real-time!

How we built it

We built the front-end of Student Assist using html, css, Javascript, three.js, A-frame, and boostrap.

Challenges we ran into

Some issues I ran into in this hackathon were unfortunately, early on after some terrific early collaboration, my teammates one by one had to pass the baton due to family circumstances beyond their control and it was up to me to execute on our collective vision.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

An accomplishment I'm proud of is completing the project. Even after my teammates one by one had to pass the baton due to family circumstances beyond their control, I decided that I believe in this project, and I believe it deserves to see the light of day, so I continued working on this project and eventually got to submitting it.

What we learned

I learned a few new programming languages throughout this hackathon, and I also learned that everything is easier with your team standing behind you.

What's next for Student Assist

With student assist, the future is very bright. There are hundreds of tools proven to boost productivity that can be added, the hangout call can have different features added as well such a way to customize the 3d environment in your hangout call, or add more collaboration tools. The possibilities are endless!
