Inspiration
We've had countless conversations with our friends about the problems of the school system - that inspired us to create a solution.
What it does
The website helps students vote and post their petitions and complaints about the school system
How we built it
We were a team of 3; a graphic designer, a backend engineer, and a frontend developer. We used javascript, html, and css.
Challenges we ran into
We were struggling to get django to work - in the end we realized that we do not even need a backend/login system. We also spent a lot of time on a simple google sign-in button which turned out to be simpler than we thought.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We managed to create a working Google sign-in button and didn't even make a sign-out button to work. Overall, we deprecated this functionality and it no longer exists on our website.
What we learned
We learned that web development is fun and it is the most fun when we work with our team members and friends. Software engineering, pog.
What's next for Student Petitions
We may publicize and market the website so that we can build the "public petitions" page.
