Inspiration
Many people need to grocery shop for their daily survival, now more than ever. With our website, we aspire to make grocery shopping one less thing to worry about.
What it does
As grocery shoppers ourselves we thought that it would be a good idea to create a website where it is easy to create a shopping list while keeping track of what you already have. Our site is optimized for user experience making it so that whenever you purchase an item it will immediately get sent to your inventory. In the inventory, you can see the purchase date, as well as update items to see their expiration date. Try it out here on our live website! All you have to do is make your own account and you are good to go!
How we built it
We used Flask, Firebase, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to run out website.
Challenges we ran into
We are new to much of this, so there was a lot of learning on the fly! Learning to work with all of the tools and frameworks proved to be a difficult, yet rewarding challenge.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that the website works, is fully functional, and will hopefully be of use to us as well as others!
What we learned
Learning new APIs in a short time span is tricky, but a fun experience. There is a lot of nuance when choosing which frameworks and tools to use (ex. SQL vs NoSQL), so there's always lots to think about and plan before hand.
What's next for Supershop
We plan to add a lot more features including automatic expiration date usage, grocery shopping analytics, shopping suggestions, location grocery stores, and more!
