Inspiration

We were inspired by the mass popularity of dating app profile liking and a desire for an innovative way to buy and sell real estate.

What it does

SwipeHome shows the user a stream of properties for sale, along with estimated home values to give them a sense of how good the price is. Sellers can also use the app and are provided a stream of buyer profiles that they can like or discard. When one user likes another, the other user is notified and they may continue the conversation about the related property, much like the functionality of dating apps.

How we built it

We built SwipeHome with React on the frontend. We used Vite to create our frontend project in VS Code and stylized accompanying CSS files for a clean look. The application runs on a web browser and simulates the use of a mobile device running SwipeHome. We utilized

Challenges we ran into

We ran into challenges related to linking together the frontend and backend. We had trouble getting the data from our backend to appear on our user interface but were able to solve that issue and get it to display.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of successfully incorporating the Melissa data sets to provide the users with accurate information on real estate.

What we learned

We learned a lot about how to incorporate the frontend and backend to create a successful project.

What's next for SwipeHome

SwipeHome's next steps are incorporating messaging between users.
