Inspiration
Professor Phipps. Spefically CSI311.
What it does
Gamifies the learning of how to read syntax errors. It generates 3d objects, letters and symbols, character by character by parsing and actual coding script. It then adds syntax errors and asks the player to hunt them down!
How we built it
Unity 6, and a lot of whiteboarding and ascii math and Blender!
Challenges we ran into
Blender!, Rigging, animating, And getting blender assets into unity... alllll of them!
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Our ability to generate 3d objects based directly from the parsed code we enter. And where we can take this game! giving people an opportunity to learn Game Dev Coding through Gaming, it just makes sense.
What we learned
How to communicate, especially learning to talk through problems and how to get a general consensus when a challenge becomes and obstacle and the best path forward is a pivot in direction.
What's next for Syn City
We envision a scoring system implemented as the level of difficulty increases, adding a number of tries the player can take, a timer to keep them trying to find the syntax quicker, and even hostile synies that the player will need to overcome to clean the streets "code" of Syn City.
