Inspiration
The idea for Thalemo was born after visiting a children’s thalassemia center. Witnessing the challenges faced by parents and doctors inspired the creation of a solution to simplify care and provide timely support.
What It Does
Thalemo is a comprehensive health companion app designed for both parents and doctors:
For Doctors:
- Predicts blood disorders based on symptoms.
- Provides accurate diagnoses.
- Offers streamlined access to patient reports and histories.
- Predicts blood disorders based on symptoms.
For Parents:
- Tracks transfusion schedules.
- Maintains health logs.
- Provides instant answers to common questions about treatments or diet restrictions.
- Tracks transfusion schedules.
How I Built It
- React: For building the user interface.
- Tailwind CSS: For a visually appealing and responsive design.
- Dataset of Medical Information: Used to train the app for accurate symptom-based predictions and Q&A functionality.
Challenges I Ran Into
- Designing an intuitive interface catering to both doctors and parents.
- Ensuring the prediction model’s accuracy despite limited and diverse datasets.
- Managing time constraints for building and testing features during the hackathon.
Accomplishments That I Am Proud Of
- Delivering a functional application in a short timeframe.
- Addressing the needs of two distinct user groups effectively.
- Successfully implementing features like the transfusion tracker and instant Q&A.
What I Learned
- Balancing user experience with technical accuracy in health-related apps.
- Addressing real-world pain points with impactful yet simple solutions.
What’s Next for Thalemo
- Enhanced Prediction Models: Incorporate machine learning for even more accurate diagnoses.
- Integration with Medical Databases: Enable real-time updates and access to global resources.
- Mobile App Development: Create a mobile-first experience for greater convenience.
