Inspiration

Dealing with money can be very challenging. It is also tempting to spend money on things we probably don't need. That is when The Creative Financial comes in handy. It is a web app that helps to organize which category we spend the most money on. For example, it is very tempting to overspend the money on necessary things. The Creative Financial helps you to stop overspending excessive money on necessary things and chooses different categories on which the money should be most spend on.

What it does

The Creative Financial is a web app that makes financial tracking really easy. It can help you track down your money on where you spend it the most. It also guides you on where you should spend it the most. Since it's really tempting to overspend money, the creative financial stops you from overspending the money and sets challenges for you so you do not overspend the money.

How we built it

This web app was made possible by the use of React which was used for rerendering content whenever the user enters something. It was also made with CSS and Bootstrap to design the website and the UI.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges I ran into was creating the whole web app within such a short period of time. Fortunately, I was able to only finish the frontend and the functionality and started doing the backend like saving the user's data. But unfortunately, there wasn't enough time to implement the whole backend to save the user's login and data they put into the website so it was cut short with only the front-end.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am proud of being able to create a web app using React since it was my first time using react and making a complete web app.

What we learned

I learned a lot about React and the "State" functionality of react since it was a major part. I also learned about the rerendering part of React and how it works.

What's next for The Creative Financial

The next part for The Creative Financial is to connect to backend and save the user's login data and their net pay so it can save it and remind the user about the usage of their money so that the user does not need to enter the data every time they visit the website. The first step is to connect MongoDB and save the user's login data. The second step would be to implement the web app to mobile application using React Native so that the users can also access the app from their phone. And finally, a much later step for the Creative Financial would be to connect the app with the credit card so it can be more useful and remind the user that they are overspending their money.
