So we first started brainstorming ideas as a group, and we settled upon a Stack Overflow-esque idea, but specifically for a school environment and quick access to specific units. Then, we were confused on what names that we would choose, and we started with Java error lines to follow the flow of other sites, but we felt as if it would be too much of a copy. Then we went on to cool type names, like abstract names with a meaning. So like greek or roman names which sounded odd. Then, one moment we brought up the idea of Linkedln, and then ThinkIn, then Thinkledn, then finally at think’n, which acts a short play on words but also complements the usability of our website. Now, to move on to the webpage, we used Figma to design how our website would look like, and got a template from one of the given. Then, we added a sidebar and a login and sign up pages, along with some SVGs for the visual appeal. Now, we had to choose what the sidebar would hold and logo design. We knew that asking and answering questions were an important part, so we used some filler text to show how the actual website would look, and created a google slides to demonstrate the functionality behind each page that we were able to code out and design. We all attempted to add an option where a person(s) could answer other people’s questions and be able to Firebase to store questions and answers as a database. We were unable to finish the button for answers, but we made questions and a sign in option. We are proud of the fact that we were able to create a minimalistic and modern design whilst also maintaining and easy to use service. In addition, the code for authorizing new registrations was something we were extremely proud of. It took the most amount of time and certain aspects such as not letting the same email register twice were annoying. However, we are pleased with what we were to make. We learned that database and distributed systems to include in our storage of our answers and choices. We also learned design using Figma, and the various options that it gives to enable creativity. We're planning to include many more features to Think'N such as a search bar and categories which would greatly improve the user's experience in finding specific subjects or questions they want to find. Making the answers button function correctly is also something we are looking to fix in the future as you can't have a forum without someone answering your questions. Even though the hackathon is almost over, we will continue to work on this project until we finish.
