Inspiration
We started off with realizing how SejutaCita, one of the existing app in Indonesia has helped and casted a big positive impact towards youths in Indonesia. However, there are unfortunate circumstances within our environment where teenagers nowadays are no longer highly motivated to step out of their comfort zone and join competitions, events etc. as they used to be. We tried to make something similar to SejutaCita but by also thinking of how to draw and attract teenagers and revitalize their spirit of healthy competition and self development.
What it does
Thunder Quest: Unleash Your Thunder is an app where students are assigned to a digital environment where they will face and experience peer pressure, healthy competition and self reflection. Users will have wider exposure towards other people that joins other competitions, hence it could create a healthy competition, also a chance for them to improve themselves for the better. They will also be driven to learn more from others as others learn about them too.
How we built it
First of all, we did a quick sketch of how the overall application would look like, while taking into account how the app design should be so that the users would be comfortable to access it. Considering our main goal, we analyzed the SejutaCita app and combined it with what the youths are into these days, so that the app would feel more enjoyable and non-strict. All the examination came down to this project we built using Adalo.
Challenges we ran into
Our team consists of members from two different schools. Unfortunately, two of our members were called to give a talk show back at their school since they are leaving to Canada for college soon, consequently not being able to attend the first day of the hackathon. Eventually, with the limited time we had, we decided to use Adalo and make a simple no-code project using all of the maximized potential possible. With Adalo and all its limitations, we realize that the resources and flexibility Adalo has is very minimal. Alas, many features had to be cut off and not be included in this project.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Even if Adalo has very little features and variation compared to other platforms, let alone coding from scratch, we are genuinely proud of what we have made in this limited time. Given how passionate and authentic it truly felt when we were discussing about the problems we want to solve, we are looking forward to developing the current idea into something that could actually help youth and empower them.
What we learned
Through the hackathon, we learned that teamwork and time management is everything, but tolerance combined with perseverance is above all. We might have little time and in contrast, a lot to work on, but we shall say that we will not be able to submit this at the end if it were not for the tolerance and toughness we had throughout the whole process. We helped each other, forgive and don't give up easily, and thanks to all that, we found a solution decent enough to make us even more encouraged and motivated to join and do better in the next hackathon :)
What's next for Thunder Quest
We will soon work on how to develop our application, tailoring a full-stack app, finding clients, business partners and monetization.
