Inspiration
Recently, there has been a lot of talk about digitization and digital transformation, but these notions do not yet have significant coverage in our everyday environment - especially in communities with vulnerable populations and in risk institutions.
There is an acute lack of specialized digital tools that would respond punctually to some needs in the economic and social environment. Digital tools to help train users from communities at risk (e.g. risk of poverty and exclusion), but also to support the solution of a need to automate some processes suitable for digitization.
In an assessment carried out by the Transeth team, we identified that approximately 75k Startups will be established in Romania between 2022 and 2027. They will be involved in entrepreneurial development and business digitalization processes. We also estimate that over 100k pupils and students (colleges and universities) will be able to participate in entrepreneurial training programs, which use a Business Plan management software - as a practical activity.
Given that digitization and digital transformation are presented in many developing countries only as strategic commitments that will be used later in their activity, we decided to build a solution that brings the concept of business digitization and digital transformation closer to startups and educational institutions that prepare future entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial culture.
We Transeth helps business owner and their investors manage and track it’s implementation with ease while providing full transparency for future investors. Business owners with the approval of their investors can open source their business implementation and make it a template that can be used by other business. As we rolled out of closed beta, over 20% of the businesses have shared their business implementation and we have a gamification and badging system on the roadmap that will bring the percentage up.
Development is community-driven, governed through a DAO and the app support multiple languages, cultures and zones of implementation.
What it does
We Transeth is a software tool for managing and implementing business plans, necessary for any entrepreneur who wants to digitize their business management.
The application manages businesses by ensuring the control mechanisms on the following aspects:
Establishment data management, business operationalization where you can manage business establishment data and documents, notices and authorizations necessary for operation, bank accounts and subsidies (financing contracts), respectively human resources management but also manage the project activities and the initial version of the business plan.
Budget management where you define the budget structure and budget lines, financial data, budget versions, and based on the data, the budget execution is generated.
Financial operations manage revenues, expenses, and other operations in a cascading way so you always know so next operation is always up to date with the budget.
Reports are generated in Word document format for the business's activity and links all the data that has been fed at selected calendar interval to provide an intelligent edge.
Archives organize documents that were attached throughout the business plan implementation at selected calendar interval.
The functions described above are completed by many others that can be identified by direct testing of the product, going through the associated support documentation, video walkthrough or by reaching us through any contact channels available on Transeth.
How we built it
We started building We Transeth by brainstorming and filling out whiteboards until we found the right amount of work needed to push our concept into a prototype so we could enroll users and get feedback
After that, the technical team set up Azure DevOps for project management, code repositories, and CI/CD pipelines while the non-technical team drew the mockups.
The wireframes we created served as a blueprint for our application that is built with C# on .NET Framework and accesses MSSQL through stored procedures and Entity Framework.
The app is hosted on Azure (VM, Logic Apps, Storage) and we monitor its health using Azure Application Insights
Challenges we ran into
When we first started out, we had a lot of trouble deciding what direction to take the app. We knew that we wanted to make an app that helped people with their transition, but we didn't know what that looked like.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we were able to get feedback from users and make changes to our application based on that feedback, so we ended up with fast iterations
What we learned
We learned a lot about working as a team and communicating effectively, project management, product development, and user experience.
What's next for We Transeth
The next step for We Transeth is to ramp up user enrollment and feedback collection so we can improve our solution.
