This is our first hackathon as a team and we wanted to build an application that was useful, original, and challenging. We built this application in order to help individuals that suffer from visual impairments or blindness. We are able to serve these people by transcribing textual weather information into clear audible sound. A neat feature of this application that serves our target audience is voice command. The user simply clicks on the button and states which city or town or country he or she would like the weather information to. Some problems that we faced in the beginning was the collaborative ide codesandbox.com which let members edit a project live at the same time. The reason this IDE was a problem was that it ended up lacking features that we needed for the project, so we were forced to transition to using visual studio and git to work on the project. Another issue that we ran into was deciding between speech API’s, in the end we voted on using Mozilla's Web Speech API because of its ease of use and not requiring a key and simpler integration. At the end what we learned of all this is that finding the right team is one of the most important aspects of project development, our team agreed that working together and bouncing ideas back and forth is necessary for a strong and healthy team.
--Side Note: Consult the readme document located in the github repository for instructions on how to use the app! :)
