Inspiration

We were inspired by the growing trend of immigration and student population in the Metro Vancouver area and decided to simplify their relocation and moving process to ensure everybody feels comfortable in the city.

What it does

Uses data science to find a neighborhood-specific to your input and needs and finds a specific locality

How we built it

Using React, GCP, PostgreSQL, HTML and CSS

Challenges we ran into

Combining the front-end and the back-end was a challenge as we struggled to combine technologies

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Building the front-end & the UI interface

What we learned

We learned a lot of debugging while working on the back-end in JS.

What's next for VancFind

Continue spreading to different Canadian localities and develop across the world.

I made a mock-up, a simple design, and wrote some React/HTML/CSS code to make the website match the responsive design.

This was my first time using Git and React!

I worked on the front-end and back-end. For the front-end, I used React. For the back-end, I created the REST API for the server using Node, and Express. I also used API's so that we can calculate criterias.

Corbyn Kwan
I worked on the back end - I built the database and created the algorithm for determining matches. I also gathered the rental data from craigslist using python (jupyter and pandas).
