Inspiration

Frustrating and intimidating banking experience leads to loss of customers and we wanted to change that making banking fun and entertaining. Specifically, senior citizens find it harder to navigate online bank profiles and know their financial status. We decided to come up with an android app that lets you completely control your bank profile either using your voice or the chat feature. Easily integrate our app into your slack account and chat seamlessly.

What it does

Vocalz allows you to control your online bank profile easily using either chat or voice features. Easily do all basic bank processes like sending money, ordering a credit card, knowing balances and so much more just using few voices or text commands. Unlike our competitors, we give personalized chat experience for our customers. In addition, Vocalz also recommends products from the bank they use according to their financial status as well as determine eligibility for loans. The future of banking is digital and we thrive to make the world better and convenient.

How we built it

We used Plaid API to get financial data from any bank in the world and we integrated it within our android app. After logging in securely using your bank credentials, Vocalz automatically customizes your voice-enabled and chat features according to the data provided by the bank. In our real product, We trained the IBM Watson chatbot with hundreds of bank terminology and used Dialogflow to create a seamless conversational experience for the customers. IBM Watson uses machine learning to understand the customer's needs and then responds accordingly regardless of spelling or grammar errors. For voice-enabled chat, we will use google's speech-to-text API which sends the information to IBM Watson and Google text-audio API will return the response as audio. The app will be deployed in the Google Cloud because of its high-security features.

For demo purposes and time constraints, we used Voiceflow to demonstrate how our voice-enabled features work.

Challenges we ran into

Getting to know and learn the IBM Watson environment was very challenging for us as we don't have much experience in machine learning or dialogue flow. We also needed to find and research different API's required for our project. Training IBM Watson with specific and accurate words was very time consuming and we are proud of its present personalized features.

We ran into several challenges and we made sure we are on the right path. We wanted to make a difference in the world and we believe we did it.

What we learned

We learned how to make custom chatbots and bring customized experience based on the app's needs. We learned different skills related to API's, android studio, machine learning within 36 hours of hacking.
