Endless sci-fi sound bits from the arcade.
What it does
Players pilot a space ship using only voice commands, and are responded to by the "ships AI." Supports voice commands for movement and firing weapons.
How I built it
The client for visualization and speech recognition is Unity-based. The text-to-speech voice is an ASP.NET Web Api that hits AWS Polly for speech synthesis.
Challenges I ran into
-None of the hardware I needed so initial plans scrapped. -Internet connectivity issues, so backup plans scrapped. -This whole thing was basically last minute. -Unity update full of new bugs.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Managed to get voice recognition and speech synthesis working from zero in less than a day.
What I learned
Maybe too much about AWS. SRGS grammar design and parsing for speech recognition.
What's next for VoiceCaptain
Total revamp of the concept if I can get the equipment to make it worthwhile. This should be a VR game not 3rd person.
