Inspiration
To navigate through life in college a lot of UCI students use google calendar and Canvas assignments to track their school life. This becomes problematic when students have many events and classes while having a ton of assignments. We wanted to create a simplistic way to track classes and assignments at UCI as an alternative to multiple apps to track their education which may get cluttered and hard to remember.
What it does
It has two main features. The To-Do list which takes input of a course and sorts whatever assignment, task, or activity is the student’s highest priority through a rating scale and how much time is left. The calendar helps display the courses students are taking to help them plan out and visualize their daily schedule.
How we built it
It was built using React, JavaScript, Python & CSS.
Challenges we ran into
Going into this hackathon, we did not have much experience as a team so it was a large learning curve to learn how git works and how to share code with others.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Something we are proud of was that we were able to learn and implement the basics of web development for this hackathon and learn multiple coding languages (such as Java and React) that we never used before. We worked together to ideate and develop a web application from scratch to learn new skills and practice them
What we learned
We worked with git to merge our code together which was very new to all of us.
What's next for ZotPlanner
In the future, we hope we can add more functions and features into the To-Do List and Calendar such as sorting, filtering on categories, and a more user friendly experience
