3 Years..

3 Years ...
Many days of silly laughs..
Some days of passionate fights
Many days of blissful togetherness
Some days of driving each other crazy
Many days of brimming with so much love that I feel I was going burst ..
Some days of just not wanting to talk to each other

All said and done- 3 good years.... of married life.
We are still as silly and goofy as the crazy teenagers that we were when we first met 10 years ago..
and THAT is the top most reason why I love our life together :)

Happy Anniversary my dear HD- I don't have to tell you anymore how much I love you.You know everything there is to know and we are at a place where I don't have to verbalize my feelings anymore.

Thanks for always being my best friend- for the last 10 years and always!

I still cant believe we are going to be parents in just 2 weeks ( or so ) .I can already tell that you are going to a great dada to our little princess!

Here is to more roller coasters in life!

Looking Back

2009 is almost gone!
The year went by pretty fast, as is the case with all years. 2009 will be a special year- the year I became pregnant.I cant believe that in about 6 weeks ( more or less !) our most precious baby girl will be here :).

I also had some lows in 2009- the lowest being the loss of my beloved grandmother. That's the cycle of life I guess- deaths and births.

So here is to a happy and peaceful 2010 to all of you!

I am still around..

So, I have been busy as usual .. pregnancy work etc etc.

I have a personal blog for my pregnancy that I update every other week- will probably make it public once the baby is here ( yep ! I am superstitious! ).So updating this blog has taken the back seat ..

We are gearing up for baby- about 8 weeks to go !!

This blog has essentially become by Recipe note book. Following that tradition, here is another recipe I want to record so that I can look it up if needed.

Chicken Chettinad Curry

1) Dry roast cumin/fennel/giger/garlic/coriander seeds/red chilies/coconut/curry leaves/krambu/pattai/yelakai/poppy seeds
2) Fry onion/tomato/ curry leaves . Add turmeric powder/salt/chili powder.
3) Fry chicken in the above masala for a little bit, until the raw masala smell goes away.
4) Add water and cook covered for 20 min.
5) Add lemon juice in the end.

This recipe was so simple- yet the results were awesome!

Experiments- Chicken Salna & chicken drumsticks fry

Chicken salna-This is one dish that brings back memories of home- was never made at home really. We always used to buy parotta-salna from a hotel in my home town. My neighbor back home , C aunty, used to make the most yummy biryani/parotta/salna ever!

Since my pregnancy started I have been averse to too much masala/spices etc.Now that I am in my 7th month, the aversions are finally gone.

I wanted to cook something that reminds me of home- so I made chicken biryani/chicken leg fry/salna.

Chicken salna
1) Marinate chicken pieces ( small ) in chili powder/ginger garlic paste/jeera powder/coriander powder/turmeric powder/little salt/lemon juice.
2) Grind coconut (1/4 of a cup)/green chilies/pepper corn/jeera/sombu/kasa kasa /coriander seeds.
3) Fry Onions/yelakai ( cardamom)/krambu/biryani leaf/pattai (cinamon).
4) Add the ground paste with the spices and fry until the raw smell goes away.
5) Add tomatoes/ marinated chicken/jeera powder/coriander powder /salt/curry leaves.
6) Add lots of water. Add mint leaves and coriander leaves . Let it boil until oil separates and chicken is fully done.

Yummy chicken salna is ready. You can eat this with Parotta or biryani .

Chicken drumsticks fry
This is a recipe from my home. Amma had made this when she was here and it brought back so many childhood memories. Its not the most healthiest of dishes - but definitely one of the tastiest. Its so easy to prepare too.

1) Marinate chicken in yogurt/chili powder/turmeric powder/ pepper powder/ ginger garlic paste/jeera powder/coriander powder and salt.
2) Leave it in the freezer for 30 min- 1 hr.
3) Shallow fry in a deep dish until red

This dish is so simple and so yumm!

YESSSSSSSSSSSS! We are expecting to add a little bundle of joy to our family. HD and I are very very excited and scared :) I am 22 weeks along ( in my 6th month). These pictures were taken at my valakaapu ( traditional ceremony for pregnant ladies) held at my place with close relatives.
How am I feeling? well the first few months were tough- I am much better now.So, that's what has been keeping me busy and away from the blog.

Lastly , (definitely not the least), the mystery first time mom mentioned in Poppy's sweet post is meeeeeee :).

PS:- Kala tikka ; TOUCH WOOD; and all that!
