Hunting Eggs!

HAPPY EASTER!

Image
With my sister and nephew living with Mom now, we decided to have the Easter egg hunt at her house. (That's where all the gorgeous flower photos came from.) So on the Saturday before Easter, we gathered on the steps to start the hunt!

Will came out strong with his bunny egg!

Even grown up Ellen joined in the fun! Hey, there's chocolate and jelly beans in those eggs! Not to mention some cash. Who can resist that?

Image
Xander had a great time.

The last egg found! Every year, we're so clever that we can't find one of our own eggs! So even after careful counting, we have to get the whole crowd involved looking for that stubborn missing egg. This year, it was a green egg hiding in the green grass! No wonder we couldn't find it.

Bet you can't guess who that is! Oh, you guessed Sarah? How could you tell?

The final yummy results! Hope your Easter was full of fun and family too. And jelly beans.

Shingles?

ImageWill has shingles. No, not that kind! He has the varicella rash. He had chicken pox when he was 4, but it's made a comeback! He was complaining Friday that he had an itch. On Saturday it was worse, so I made him pull of his shirt so I could get a look. Sure enough, he had a rash, wrapping around his chest on one side. No blisters yet, but it looked suspicious to me.

I wasn't sure if he could wait till Monday to see the doctor or not, but after chatting with friends on FB, I decided to take him in to the Urgent Care that day and not wait. Turns out, the doctor was impressed at my Dr. Mom diagnosis. It WAS shingles, and he got started right away on a medicine that should shorten the course of the illness. The doctor said Will was the youngest patient he's seen, and it's the mildest case he's seen. So far, anyway. Today it looked better, but Will was miserable, itchy and uncomfortable. He is not contagious, unless you haven't had chicken pox or the vaccine. The doctor cleared him to go to school on Monday, as long as he feels well enough, but if you haven't had the disease, you better avoid our house for a bit.

Poor Will! No hugs, BTW; it hurts. But he's accepting Get Well Treats!

So. Tired.

I'm not sleeping well. It may be one of the MANY medications I'm on; it may be hormones; it may be pain keeping me awake. But I'm very tired. Sadly, the 3 medications I take that are supposed to make me sleepy, don't seem to do the trick, even though I take them at bedtime. I was trying to come up with something interesting to post on here, but all I could think of was, "I'm so tired." So that's what you get.

Valentine's Day!

I had a GREAT Valentine's Day.

  • I made some money at work
  • I got chocolate
  • Randy got me flowers - roses and daisies, my fave
  • He made me a Valentine
  • We went out to dinner - Mimi's Cafe, yum
  • Randy cleaned the kitchen

ImageAnd if that weren't enough (and Hello, it should be!), he got me these sweet birds. From Etsy (of course), and all the way from the Ukraine. How awesome is he? Completely awesome, and I know you are all jealous. Too bad.

More Birthday Fun!

A continuation of Will's 15th birthday.

Image
Here's a great picture of Will and his cousin, Xander. Xander is about 8 years younger than Will and they are great friends. Xander really looks up to his big cousin and Will likes to teach him new stuff.

Presents everywhere! I was so busy that I didn't wrap anything until THAT DAY. Will kept asking me, "Are you going to wrap my presents?" I think he was wondering if I'd totally forgotten!

Image
How do you like the monster? I made that for my guy! You can read more details on my shop blog, Moon Beans Gifts. I'm really pleased with the way this one turned out and he only took me a day to make. Will named the monster Ramon.

And finally, how about this great Kirby cake? Kirby is made out of fondant and the cake is chocolate. Yum.

Happy birthday, Will! Next year will be the big 16!
