For one of my finals we have to decorate this paper bag and then inside of it we have to put something that drives us. So this whole week I have been thinking about what drives me. I thought maybe to prove people wrong but this morning I had an epiphany that proofing people wrong was just one element of my drive.
I know that whenever I write on the blog it is always something funny but today I thought I would do something for a change and talk about my reflection and give each of you a challenge.
My teacher said that she knew that family drives all of us but she wanted us to dig deeper and so do I want you to dig deeper. So I thought I would share with you guys what drives me.
The thing that drives me is to help people realize that they can shoot for the stars no matter what people say. Today society likes to categorize people. I have dealt with this many times in my life. I didn't speak until I was five and because I was delayed in learning they put me in special education. It helped me at first to get caught up with everyone and improve my speech, but in middle school it started to be something negative in my life. I didn't understand why I had to still go. I went on to high school and was lost in the crowd and the school forgot to put me in special education. I remember how hard it was in 9th grade but luckily for me my mom and dad would help me. I remember listening to my mom read Kill a Mocking Bird to me and to start building confidence in me. Well when 10th grade came the school realize that I hadn't been in special education and that I needed to be in it for 10th, but it was too late. I knew that I could survive in school without special education. The school continued to try to get me to go to special education but my mom told me not to go. That was the moment my mom helped me to realize my potential. I also became a stronger person because I decide that I wasn't going to go to special education.
Another example was when I was in my science class I was struggling. The teacher told me that I needed to go in the lower science class. I begged her not to put me in the lower class and that I could do it and that I would work harder. She continued on by telling me that I wouldn't go on to graduate from college and that school wasn't for everyone and that was okay. My pleading was in vain and she put me in lower class but she didn't kill by desire. I wasn't going to settle for what she said, I am graduating in April and proofing her wrong.
I have had a lot of experiences in my life that have been negative that have made me stronger but I have also had good experiences.
After I had completed a 10K my cousin Katie told me that I should do a triathlon. She built me up even though I had doubts. I said to her, " I am not the typical person that does triathlons." She ignored what I said and told me that she knew that I could do it. I started to train 9 month in advance because I didn't know a lot of swim strokes. Well I met with a guy twice and he taught me some strokes and I practice and practiced. I ran into one of my friends that wanted to do it with me and so we trained. She helped me with my strokes and we completed a olympic triathlon.
The world sometimes likes to tell us that we won't succeed because we don't fit the mold. We have so much potential if realize it and believe in ourselves. That's what drives me to help people realize their potential and not to limit themselves because of peoples narrow minded opinion.
Sorry that this is so long but I just had to share it with you because when I realized what drives me I felt empowered to make a change. I know that as each of us realize what drives us that we are able to impact the world for better.
So I hope each of you take the challenge and look deep into your heart to what drives you.
Love ya

Houston do we have contact
So I couldn't figure out a cool title so I put something random there and it has nothing to do with anything that I am typing, other than making the title sound cool.
Well I have two weeks left of school I can't wait. I am basically done because there is only one class that has a final, that is really nice. I also have one more presentation but my group is procrastinating as much as we can.
The other day dad said that he liked Eli full name and so he was going to start calling him Abraham Elias Powell. I didn't think anything of it and went on with the week. After I woke up from a nap on Sunday Eli told me that he felt he was in trouble with dad. I asked him why he felt that way and he informed me that the only time that his mom called him by his full name was when he was in trouble. I chuckled a little and promised him that he was not in trouble.

Sweet vibration
So the other day I was in a literacy class and this group was presenting about literacy and different ways to teach it. So we were talking about how each letter in the alphabet can represent a movement concept. For example r is for run and s is for sit. So my group was trying to think about different movements for each letter and we got stumped on the letter v, but your smart sister thought of one. "V is for Vibration". Are you all impressed are what. Anyway life is going good. Talk to you later.

Church
So the last Sunday we were in Sunday school class and we were doing this puppet show for the younger kids. Well at the end of it I couldn't get the puppet off my hand and so two adult had to rep it off it was very embarrassing. Then I woke up from my dream but I thought when I was dreaming that this would be the perfect thing to post on my blog. So there you have it, I think it was trying to warn me to never put a puppet on my hand when I am at church.

Wisdom teeth extrovadonza
Well when mom gets makes a comment that I haven't posted in a while, I know it is time. Well last week I went to get my teeth clean by a wonderful hygienist. And she informed me that I had 2 cavities, yuck. So yesterday the dentist filled my two cavities and pulled out my wisdom tooth (just one). It was a pretty funny experience but as you all know everything is in my life. So I sit down in the chair and the dentist puts this numbing gel on two different sides of my mouth and then discovers that he had put it in the wrong spot, so he moved it to another spot after having it sit there for a min he looks again at the picture of my teeth and realized that the first spot was a the correct spot. I just laugh and thought well if I have to get my wisdom teeth out I would much prefer having my whole mouth numb. I always have been confused my whole life because I have always had a feeling that I was suppose to be petite. Well I am happy to announce that I am petite, the dentist pulled out the smallest wisdom tooth root he had ever seen. It was such a relieve to finally figure out my petite size dilemma. Well I will talk to all of you later.

Attack of the crows
Well Yellowstone was a lot of fun. One day we went and took a tour around the hot pots and to our dismay our things in the back of truck was turn apart. There was a note on a truck to put all the food in the cab. I could just image the movie that Alfred Hitchcock about the crows. We had a good laugh luckily it was at the end of our trip there wasn't very much food.
We had a lot of fun. Eli loved lighting fireworks with Ryan in Wyoming. Nothing exciting happening, just working.

Pesticide Experiment
So when I was reading Melissa blog about gardening it reminded me of a funny story that happened about month ago. Eli's little sister Jessica that is 15 wanted to be nice the other day and clean the kitchen while we were on a date. When we arrived home it looked so nice but I asked you what the smell was. She commented that she didn't know that she had just used simple orange cleaning bottle. Then Eli started laughing and informed her that he wouldn't suggest her using that bottle again. Eli is kind of into finding natural cures for thing and so the other day he went online and found a recipe for a natural insect pesticide that had a lot of herbs in it, such as oregano and other things. Well when he was done he had put it in the empty orange cleaning bottle and put it in the cupboard. So when we came home from our date we had this beautiful oregano smelling kitchen. He sister went on to threaten his life if she died from the pesticide. And I am happy to announce that nothing happened to her and so I still have a husband. After that Eli kindly labeled the bottle.
I love life.

Kissing Recall
Eli doesn't want me to share this but Jessica said that I could share any mushy things. So the other day I was kissing Eli and we were listening to classical music and I was really getting into the music. So I was nibbling Eli ear and it was a high point of the music and instead of nibbling his ear I accidently bit it and sent a sharp pain through his body. He commented that it was a good thing that it wasn't the highest point or it might have been a Mike Tyson experience. So I strongly suggest not to kiss anyone you like while listening to classical music or at least nibbling on ears.
Sanding
So here is your sign when you have been sanding too long. The other night I was going to bed it was about 12:30 so I was a little sleep deprived and I told Eli that I was sorry my feet were rough and I said, " My feet our like sand paper 60 not 250" We both started laughing after I had realized what I had just said.
To catch everyone up Eli and I have been refinishing a king size bed frame.
So the other day I had been sanding and I had forgotten about a meeting and so I was hurrying to put everything back in the garage. Well I grab a pair of my pants that were in my car and started closing the garage door. I figured that I could just change in the garage well my dusty pants were at my ankles when I panicky looked up to realized that the garage door was coming up. So I hurried and waddled to the basement and then laughed for the next five minutes. By the time I got composed my sister in law was worried because she couldn't figure out if I was crying or laughing. Well I had to tell her the story and then she laughed for the next thirty minutes. Oh my life is so exciting.
