Merry X mas!
Winter storms this weekend kept UHP busy as it always does. There are many stupid drivers out there and the slick roads lets us know exactly who they are. They get away with it on dry roads, but they can't hide from slick, icy roads!
Idiot was going to fast and slid off the road. In about 20 minutes, about 15 mexicans showed up to help push out. They were unsuccessful and I made them leave because they were becoming a traffic hazard.
Christmas Season brought a good samaritan to this lucky fella. This gal saved us time and him money as she stopped and pulled him out with a winch on the front of her truck. Yeah, believe it or not...It was a Toyota Tacoma with a Tomboy driving it. I let her slide this time on her illegally lifted truck...

New 2008 photos!
We just had our new section photos taken for the upcoming year. Here are the two best shots. We just had our section X-mas party at the Governor's mansion. There were five awards presented... I took home one of them! The five were: Most DUI's, most Warrant arrests, most stolen vehicles, most Drug arrests, and Outstanding Trooper of the Year! Joe Morley's was the caterer...if you have not eaten there, you are missing out. It is fabulous food. A trooper in our section put together the video for our section this year. It is really good, and I will bring it down over Christmas for everyone to see. Last year, you all saw mine...which was basically just a slide show of pictures throughout the year. This trooper has talent in editing video and comprised our dash cam videos and some videos from the Capitol Security cameras to create a great section video...You will have to wait and see!
Oh yeah, Not to brag or anything...but I was awarded Outstanding Trooper of the Year!
See yal on December 26th...

Funny story!
The other day I was driving in to work and was thinking: "It has been awhile since I got a seatbelt ticket." Sure enough a few minutes later someone generous to help me out with this small dilema entered I-15 at 7200 South and crossed over the gore area to the left. And sure enough, he was not wearing a seatbelt. Which normally I would have just let him go, but it was on my mind and seatbelt being a secondary offense, I now had probable cause to stop and cite.
So I did...During stop, I approached vehicle and stated who I was and the reason for the stop. Driver then notified me that he did not have his license with him...ha whatever. I asked if he did not have it with him? or is it suspended? he stated it was suspended. I returned to my car with his name and DOB to issue him a citation. Turns out, He had a Suspended license, no insurance, and five warrants out for his arrest totalling about $10,000. I hooked him. During search of his vehicle, I found a pipe used for smoking marijuana as well. I live for this job!!! All I was itching for was a seatbelt violation and what did I find? Seatbelt violation, crossed over gore, no insurance, driving on suspended license, drug paraphernelia, and FIVE warrants. Then, as we were driving to the jail...he confessed to smoking weed yesterday and I was too late. I advised him that even though he may not be high right now...It is still in your system and if I took a blood test, I could charge you with that as well. Retard, had no idea it stayed in your system for days at a time. But, I did not draw blood. I had enough to deal with...
So he is cuffed in my car and we are heading to the jail talking. Being the genious that he is, tells me that: "if it weren't for guys like me, you wouldn't even have a job." I responded with: "Lucky for me, there are plenty of you out there. I want to thank you." I then reached over to shake his hand.... I chuckled! "Sorry, steel bracelets come with the job." It suddenly got quiet and enjoyed silence the rest of the way to the jail...

Grandparents Ashmore 57th Anniversary
We forgot to bring a camera and had to use my camera phone. It was so cold that the lil tiny lens kept fogging up. It was Grandparents Ashmore's 57th anniversary. We took them to Macaroni Grill in Salt Lake and then headed over to Temple Square to see the lights. They had never been to either, so it was alot of fun...but cold.
Then for a bonus, we listened to the end of the BYU Football game on the way home. When BYU scored to make it 48 - 27 , I yelled touchdown and pumped my fist in the air. Luke did the same and yelled "tutdon". It was close enough for me... I cried a little. *TEAR

BYU wins 27-22!
These pictures were taken with my camera phone. November 8th, Thursday at 7pm BYU played TCU. There were a lot of exciting moments, but again, Max Hall seemed off. Near the end of the game was scary when they let TCU creep back into it. It was exciting though. Eric was my date for the game and we had a lot of fun. Gooch left in the 3rd quarter and did not return. Unga was shut down as well as others at the line. Max Hall was off. We had a couple of big plays that were really exciting. Other than that, I really don't know how we pulled it off. But that is what I like about Sports I guess. You never know what is going to happen. Glad Eric could come to the game with me. Thanks to Joe for moving away!

Saturday, Oct. 20th - BYU wins 42-7
Snow is just starting to fall...
Snow is coming down hard... These shots were taken with my camera phone. I did not take a final shot, but by the end of the game, the field was completely covered in white. It made ESPN too. Granted we played a 1AA school and should have won easily, but the score should be way higher. Other than Harvey Unga, BYU played like crap and still put up 45 points and held Eastern Washington to only 7 points. If Max Hall played his A game, we would have easily put up 60+ points. Anyway, I was prepared for the cold weather and had 5 layers on. So it was actually alot of fun and not miserably cold. I'm also impressed with my camera phone. It takes pretty good pictures!

Accidental Discharge!
If you look closely, The magazine is still in the gun. So when the slide went forward. It loaded a bullet in the chamber. I believe he was going to take the slide off for the class. In order to do that, you have to pull the trigger. Boom...watch and see!

Bear Lake - Utah-Idaho July 16-19
Just after the Heywood Reunion in SoCal, we headed to Bear Lake with Erin's family. It was a blast. We stayed in Utah, but spent a day on the Idaho side just outside of St. Charles.
