Week 3:

We started the week out by meeting our newest friend, Peyton Skye Buckwalter. My friend Camie had her first baby girl last week. She is the tiniest baby I've ever seen. She's perfect. We took them dinner Monday and got to hold her for a little while. There's nothing like holding a new baby! The rest of the week was business as usual. Friday night after work we got the house ready for Camie's baby shower on Saturday. (Peyton came a little early, so we had to have a shower without her) It was fun to see some friends from high school and catch up for a little bit.

Saturday night Dan took me on a "Surprise Date". We went to the Zac Brown Band concert at The Mavrick Center. Which was awesome. Such a great concert. I love loud live music. Then we came home and had crepes. It was the perfect date night. And Zac Brown live is FANTASTIC!!!

Already Behind- Week 1 AND Week 2...

I'm a little embarrassed to admit I have already dropped the ball on my 2012 resolutions. The goal was to keep family/friends updated regularly but more so to have a detailed journal at the end of the year to be able to document life and memories. Which means I need to update more often. I also haven't started the diet/exercise plan, and I've done nothing on the organization calendar. There, now that I have put my goals in writing for public judgement maybe that will motivate me to get my crap together.

WEEK 1:
Well, not a "lot" has happened since my last post but we have been busy. The weekend of New Years we drove out to Wendover, NV with our Barney friends and our Eberhard friends, and saw Air Supply at the Peppermill which was seriously fantastic! Then we ate some not so fantastic casino grub and started the long drive home. The first 25 miles was a windstorm from hell! 25 miles may not seem like a lot but when you're visibility is only 18 inches in front of the car causing you to go 10-20 mph, it's a LONG drive. The salt and sand blowing all over was the craziest thing I've ever seen. The poor accord is still traumatized as am I. Despite the weather we had so much fun, some great chats, and good memories.
The next night Dan & I rang in the new year New York style. Translation: we watched the ball drop in NYC on the news, which meant 10pm in Lehi, then kissed each other good night and went to bed. I know, WE ARE WILD! But we were alert and refreshed for our 11am church the next morning.
We have been spending a little more time at home with the hope of spending a little less money. So we have acquired a new hobby, PUZZLES! We did a couple, realized we enjoyed it, ordered about 8 more (which is not spending less money).
We also got to spend sometime with Nellie, Dan's mom. She is such a sweet lady! I feel so lucky that I enjoy my mother in law so much. While she was here we went and had some pictures taken. (I'll post later) As always, my in-laws are a good time.

WEEK 2:
Wednesday was another UFC day. (the fertility clinic) At this visit we did a sonohysterogram. This is where they blow the uterus up with saline so they can see it all a little better with an ultrasound. We went into this appointment feeling pretty realistic. Kinda preparing for the worst. So when they told us the plan from here included 2 surgeries and more waiting, it wasn't such a heartbreaking shock. I have polyps that have to be removed doing a hysteroscopy and curettage, which in my head equates to- knock you out an cut and scrape your insides. Then to solve/eliminate the next problem (failed tubes) they will go in through 2 small incisions and either open the tubes up or remove tube/ovary completely. They won't know for sure until they get in there, and as Dan put it "then it's jut a shoot from the hip decision whether it stays or goes" if they can't fix the one side then removal is the best option. Then I take it easy for a week and go from there. So it may be 3-6 months before anything new happens but we shall see. That's all coming up mid February.
So by Friday of week two we needed to get out of the house. We went to dinner with my mom, Dustin & Lindsay at Red Iguana 2. Which is better than the first one because you don't have to wait outside in the cold, you get to wait in a tiny waiting room packed in like sardines! But DELISH!!!

Next up, I am feeling the need to paint something and redo things. Probably my attempt at having some control in my life. Regardless, projects are happening. Dan has pulled all the baseboards off. He's so handy :) That's all for week 1 & 2, Now onto 3.

2011 Review...

Since we haven't been as good at blogging as we had planned to be we will just have to catch up and try again in 2012. Hopefully this coming year will be a tad less hectic. So in People Magazine fashion, here is our BEST OF 2011:

January-
We had just flipped the coin, and decided it's cheaper to get married... So we quickly planned the best wedding EVER (at least in our opinion). There was a TON to do. Get pictures taken, find a dress, move stuff, start the invite list, cut the invite list, pick flowers, have a bachelorette party, cut the list again, get a marriage license, potty train a puppy, one more cut to the invite list, pick music, remember why we are doing this, relax and enjoy the fast approaching big day!

Image

February-
After a VERY quick engagement we were married on Saturday, February 5th.

Image

We then "jetted" off to the BEAUTIFUL and lively city of SALT LAKE! Just like our engagement, our honeymoon was really short, we had an amazing brunch the next morning at Grand America (thanks Beesons) then laid in bed and watched the Super Bowl. Then we spent the next day picking out tile and toilets and a vanity, I know, SOOOOO ROMANTIC!

Image

March-
It's amazing how small a house can feel when 2 people combine all of their CRAP! So we added on. We finished the basement in March and now we have more room than we know what to do with. Let's fill it with more people! So we started trying to expand our family.

April-
When Dan and I started dating he learned that not only are birthday's a big deal, they are a HUGE deal. So to nudge him into this new birthday way we took a birthday trip for Dan's 27th! We went to Vegas for a couple days, then drove to LA and went to the Griffith Observatory, Huntington Beach, and DISNEYLAND! Then we drove down to San Diego and spent a few days relaxing, I spent a few days being SICK! Then we drove the LONG 11 hours back to Lehi, which is when I learned what a patient man I married because I was so sick all the way home.

Image

We finally made it home and my "sick" started getting worse. I called Dan in a panic and on our first day back to work we took the afternoon off to head to the ER. Where they poked, prodded, and ultrasounded, and told us that I was having a miscarriage. We then went into hiding for the next 24 hours and decided we will just need to be a little more proactive. It was a rough few weeks, but we survived.

May-
We decided to see a new doctor in May, who said I am not exactly "normal" (which wasn't really news) and we started preliminary fertility treatments. We were super hopeful, and we kept ourselves busy. We celebrated Mother's Day and took my mom to the Gardens at Thanksgiving Point, went to lots of movies, and made some plans for the summer.

At some point last spring Truman's ears went from lop sided to totally CUTE!

June-
This month was a busy one for us. We both were working a lot. Which was good because the hormonal cranky started to set in for me. We got to go to Grand Junction, CO to see Zack (nephew) and Mary get married, I finally got to meet all of my new in-laws. It was really fun and the wedding was beautiful.

Image

The last weekend in June I went to St. George with 2 of my sister in laws (Heidi & Katie) and we took Nellie (my seriously adorable mother-in-law) for her birthday to Olive Garden and Tuacahn to see Little Mermaid (which was incredible). Then we did a little shopping and girl chatting. It was a great weekend!

Image

July-
I was not excited to be turning 28 and I was really feeling like crap, the hormones still weren't working but we were still hopeful. We celebrated my birthday WEEK by going to the hot air balloon festival in Provo, which was a first for me (check it off the bucket list), my friend Melissa and I went and got our traditional birthday pedicures and got to go shopping at the Nordstrom anniversary sale preview, which was fantastic! Then Dan arranged a big birthday dinner with my family, his fam, and a couple of my cute friends. Later that week my ladies took me to Melting Pot for delicious cheese and chocolate. It was literally the BEST birthday!

Image

We also did some fun "reuning" with both sides of our families! One reunion with the Kelley/Whiting family in Enterprise, UT. Then another with the McAllister/Adams family at Crystal in Cedar City, UT. We are lucky that we enjoy spending time with both of our families.

Image

August-
Still staying busy, spending time with family, seeing concerts, enjoying the last little bit of summer! In August we made a quick road trip out to Grand Junction again, this time to surprise my little brother and watch him WIN hist first tournament as a professional golfer. What a special day for the Pimm's. I am so glad we got to be there with him.

Image

September-
Utah football, the circus, date nights, and still not pregnant... There is not much in the world that I look forward to as much as game day! This year Dan got to come to a game with me which is always fun. We also went to the circus with the Wallis fam. And we did the full moon lift at Sundance, which is one of my favorite date nights with the husband. We were also still seeing the same doctor in September that told us my hormone levels still weren't improving and he referred us to a reproductive endocrinologist. So while we were still feeling frustrated we had a renewed hope that this new doctor could do more for us (in 8-10 weeks, UGH).

Image

October-
At the beginning of October we got to go spend some time with 2 of Dan's brothers and their cute wives in Las Vegas. It was so fun and MUCH NEEDED! We did all the typical Vegas good stuff, lost a little money, went to the Shark Reef, saw the Chris Angel show (which is definitely a Mind Freak), slept in, ate great food, and watched Brent (Dan's Brother) and Karen (sister-in-law) jump off the Stratosphere, WHAT A RUSH! I am so glad we got to spend time with family we don't get to see very often, they are a blast!

Image

Towards the end of the month we went up to Snowbird to walk around Oktoberfest, Utah is so beautiful in the fall, then I got to have a me weekend while Dan went on the Deer hunt with his friend Alex, we had 1 new tiny addition to the family (Dan's baby sister Maggie had a baby girl, Avaleen) my baby brother got engaged, and my patient husband who at this point worries I am on the verge of a mental break down took me to see Thriller at Tuacahn and let me relax all the way home.

Image

November-
Finally it was November! We had an appointment at the beginning of the month to see Dr. Faulk at the Utah Fertility Center. The consultation went really well, we decided on a plan of action and went for it. After talking to the doctor and meeting the nurses, we were feeling really positive and optimistic about everything. There were still a few other tests we had to do but all seemed good so far. We decided that we should start the "yearly family pictures". So my SIL Katie took some pics for us at Star Mill, in American Fork. Then we went to Cedar City for Thanksgiving to be with my mom's side of the family. We had a great time, I am so blessed to have my grandparents so close and that we can spend holidays with them. We also got to have the Wednesday Thanksgiving Dinner with my dad. I wish he lived closer, we always enjoy hanging out with him.

Image

December-
Well, December has been a CRAZY month. Lots, and LOTS of work. the second week-ish of the month I had and HSG test done, to see if everything was is "good function". That didn't go so well, so in January we will go back in and test again to see what we can do next. (surgery, different treatment, etc.) so that was discouraging, but that same day Dan's older sister Heidi went into labor! So we have a cute new nephew, Louis. That same week we had another addition to our family. My little brother got married to Lindsay. It was a beautiful day and they make a great couple. SO what started out as a rough month ended with a lot of silver lining.

Image

So, since this has been a novel to write and probably to read, I feel pretty good about my 2011 "Journaling", and pretty motivated to do a better job at keeping up in 2012. Happy Holidays everyone!

Ready, Set, BLOG...

Welcome to our blog! By reading this you agree to thoroughly enjoy our wonderfully mundane ramblings about our incredibly average life. I can't promise you content deserving of literary awards or even praise, but if you are a member of our family you are obligated to care about every last word, and if you are a friend then that is your fault, and you chose one or both of us, so you care because you can't live without us.

So, here it goes:
Dan and I have been blissfully married for 202 days. In that 6.72 months we have worked a LOT, been to a handful of extended family functions, eaten our weight in Nutella (might be an exaggeration), taken a few weekend excursions, had an amazing "honey-weekend", made a visit to the Riverton emergency room, took ourselves on an outstanding 10 day vacation, got 1 dog "fixed" and gave the other dog away (kinda sad), consumed at least 5 different kinds of hormones (and Dan still lives with me), we finished our BEAUTIFUL basement (now we have an excessive amount of space for 2 people), made the garage a "man cave" of sorts, figured out that Dan is a better cook than me (but my lasagna is pretty tasty), killed a few spiders(this is impressive for me), then got spider spray (phew), went to Disneyland for the first time (Dan's, not mine), celebrated birthdays, and at least 37 other things I am not remembering... Which is why we are blogging!

But seriously, we decided this would be the best way to keep our favorite people updated with what is really going on in our lives and also be able to look back on the things we have done together. Which means, there may be times you couldn't care less about a post and some posts that might make you grateful you don't have to live with us.

Well that's my "intro". Thanks for reading, if you got this far!
