Welcome to the Aspose.Cells for C++ documentation section

Aspose.Cells for C++ is a native C++ library that enables C++ developers to create, manipulate and convert spreadsheets programmatically without requiring Office Automation or the Microsoft Excel application.

Aspose.Cells for C++ supports spreadsheet formats such as Excel 97‑2003 Workbook format and Open Office XML formats.

PDF	Adobe Portable Document Format.

SqlScript	Structured Query Language.
XHtml	XHTML is a text‑based file format with markup in XML, a reformulation of HTML 4.0.
Epub	Files with the .epub extension are an e‑book format that provides a standard digital publishing format for publishers and consumers.
Xml	XML stands for Extensible Markup Language. It is similar to HTML but differs in using tags to define custom objects.
Ots	Open Document Template Sheet (OTS) file.
AZW3	AZW is a digital e‑book file format developed by Amazon for its Kindle devices; AZW3, also known as Kindle Format 8 (KF8).

Aspose.Cells for C++ supports the following 64‑bit or 32‑bit operating systems and platforms:

Development Environment

You can use Aspose.Cells for C++ when developing applications for Windows, Linux, or macOS.

Windows

Aspose.Cells for C++ can be used to develop applications in any development environment that supports Microsoft Visual Studio v142 Platform Toolset, but the environments listed in the following table are explicitly supported:

Aspose.Cells for C++ can be used to develop applications in a development environment that supports C++11 or higher, but the following compilers and tools are explicitly supported:

Additional Dependency on Linux

Aspose.Cells for C++ on Linux depends on fontconfig binaries, both the dynamic library and the tool. Please install them before using:

Installing fontconfig on Ubuntu or Debian
sudo apt install libfontconfig fontconfig
Installing fontconfig on Fedora or CentOS
sudo yum install fontconfig

macOS

Aspose.Cells for C++ can be used to develop applications in the following development environments:

Installing Aspose.Cells for C++ in Windows

Using NuGet Package Manager

In NuGet Package Manager, search for Aspose.Cells.

You can also download the ZIP package from the Aspose.Cells for C++ download page. The archive also contains the offline API documentation.

Using Include and lib Folders

Download/Install the latest files.
Unzip the folder to the production environment.
To use Aspose.Cells for C++, reference the “Include” and “lib/dll” directories in your project.

Installing Aspose.Cells for C++ in Linux

Download/Install the latest files.
Unzip the folder to the production environment.
To use Aspose.Cells for C++, reference the “Include” and libAspose.Cells.so directories in your project.

Installing Aspose.Cells for C++ in macOS

Download/Install the latest files.
Unzip the folder to the production environment.
To use Aspose.Cells for C++, reference the “Include” and libAspose.Cells.dylib directories in your project.

Evaluation Version Limitations

A free evaluation version of Aspose.Cells for C++ can be downloaded from the downloads section of Aspose’s web site at: https://downloads.aspose.com/cells/cpp.

Apply License Using File or Stream Object

The license can be loaded from a file or stream object. Aspose.Cells for C++ will try to find the license in the following locations:

Explicit path.
The folder that contains Aspose.Cells.dll.
The folder that contains the assembly that called Aspose.Cells.dll.
The folder that contains the entry assembly (your .exe).
An embedded resource in the assembly that called Aspose.Cells.dll.

The easiest way to set a license is to put the license file in the same folder as the Aspose.Cells.dll file and specify the file name, without a path, as shown in the example below.

Loading a License from File

The easiest way to apply a license is to put the license file in the same folder as the Aspose.Cells.dll file and specify just the file name without a path.

When you call the SetLicense method, the license name that you pass should be that of the license file. For example, if you change the license file name to “Aspose.Cells.lic.xml”, pass that file name to the Cells.SetLicense(…) method.

Software Requirements

Please make sure you meet the following requirements before downloading and running the examples.

Visual Studio 2015 or higher

Download from GitHub

All examples of Aspose.Cells for C++ are hosted on GitHub.

You can either clone the repository using your favorite GitHub client or download the ZIP file from here.
Extract the contents of the ZIP file to any folder on your computer. All the examples are located in the Examples folder.
Open the solution file in Visual Studio and build the project.
The Data folder at the root of the Examples folder contains input files. It is mandatory that you download the Data folder along with the examples project.
Open main.cpp; all the examples are called from there.
Uncomment the examples you want to run from within the project.

Contribute

If you would like to add or improve an example, we encourage you to contribute to the project. All examples and showcase projects in this repository are open source and can be freely used in your own applications.

To contribute, you can fork the repository, edit the source code, and create a pull request. We will review the changes and include them in the repository if they are helpful.
