The Stack: meet Picostrap
WordPress is a flexible and powerful CMS—but it becomes fragile when overloaded with plugins.
Every additional plugin introduces risk.
Your site is often only as secure and performant as your weakest active plugin or theme.
To complement the LiveCanvas builder and encourage lean, maintainable setups, we created a powerful starter theme: picostrap.
picostrap brings together three well-established technologies—WordPress, Bootstrap, and SASS—to offer a clean foundation for modern frontend development.
Key Features
- Built-in SASS compiler, integrated with the WordPress Customizer. You can live-edit your Bootstrap variables and generate a custom build of the CSS.
- Lean, unopinionated, and minimal. Designed to reduce bloat and remove unused WordPress features (e.g. emoji scripts, comment system, Gutenberg code if not desired, etc.).
- Performance-first: loads a single CSS bundle with preload hints; avoids unnecessary scripts and tags on the frontend.
For advanced users, the theme is now maintained on GitHub, and we welcome forks and child theme development. A starter child theme is included.

Can I Use LiveCanvas with Another Theme?
Yes. While picostrap is recommended, LiveCanvas can work with any theme that doesn’t interfere with its clean HTML output.
