Image Are we there yet Mommy? Mia did so well in the car. She only had struggled twice, once on the way to Arizona and once on the way back home. We are so proud of her.

8 Months

Image
Mia has accomplished so much within this last month. She is very mobile!! She began crawling the week before Thanksgiving. She began standing on Dec. 12 and loves to stand all the time. She said her first word--Mama, she loves to make sounds with her tongue and enjoys waving at people. We are so proud of her accomplishments. Now, we need to help her eat solid foods and sleep through the night. Persistence is the key!!

Some fun Poses

Image Mia loves to be "high in the sky" on Daddy's shoulders
Image I didn't mean to break the remote Mommy.

I like to sleep in silly positions.

Image Hi Mommy!! I am ready to get out and play.

The Passing of Jospeh B. Wirthlin

Image
SALT LAKE CITY 2 December 2008 Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin, the oldest living apostle of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, died last night, age 91.
Elder Wirthlin had gone to bed at his Salt Lake City home, and died peacefully at about 11:30 pm of causes incident to age. His oldest daughter, Jane Wirthlin Parker, was present. A member of the family had been staying and caring for Elder Wirthlin, whose wife, Elisa Young Rogers Wirthlin, died in 2006. He had continued to work at his office right up until the Thanksgiving holiday.
I was saddend when I heard the news of Elder Wirthlin's passing. He was an amazing and gentle man. I love Elder Wirthlin and appreciated his testimony and example. He will be missed. Oh what great reunions are taking place!

A FUN THANKSGIVING

Hello Everyone!! We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

We just returned from our trip to Arizona. Mia did so well since it was her first major trip! We enjoyed visiting with Michael's mom and grandmother. They loved playing with Mia. When I get the pictures downloaded, I will post them.

We were so excited to witness many firsts for Mia on this trip:
*Her first word-Mama
*Waved to her grandmother and to her great-grandmother
*Made fish faces and made noises with her tongue

She is crawling so well now and loves to go everywhere. We are amazed at how fast she is growing as well as all her accomplishments.

Well, we are happy to be home and need to get ready for Christmas. I am so excited! I love this season and I love the Christmas Spirit. I really loved this talk given by President Monson. I hope you will read it and enjoy it as you prepare for the Christmas Spirit.

Beauty Sleep

Image
Mia and I were so exhausted and needed our beauty sleep. Michael snucked in the bedroom and captured this sweet moment. I love this picture and just wanted to share it.

~HAPPY HALLOWEEN~

A Fun Family Photo!Image Mia wore her costume all day. I took her out shopping and she enjoyed being in her stroller. She met alot of friendly people who complemented her costume and Mia gave them lots of smiles. We went to get some pictures taken. We visited some friends and then just spent time with Daddy. Later that night, we watched Casper and ate some ice cream.
We sure enjoyed watching Mia enjoy her First Halloween.

7 Months and growing! She cut two teeth, claps her hands and rolls like no tomorrow. She will be crawling before I know it. The nights are getting better to where she will sleep through the night. I love all the little noises she makes and her smile and laughter just touch my heart. She is such a joy and amazes me everyday.

~Prop 8-This is a tag that is worth it!!~

Yes on Proposition 8
You've been tagged. PLEASE READ THIS no matter what state you live in. Failure to pass Proposition 8 will hurt children. If gay marriage remains legal, public schools will put it on equal footing with traditional marriage. Children will likely receive “age appropriate” information about sexual relations within heterosexual and homosexual marriages. Failure to pass Proposition 8 will hurt churches. The court’s decision will inevitably lead to conflicts with religious liberty and free speech rights. Society will become more and more hostile to traditional beliefs about marriage and family. Over time, greater acceptance of nontraditional marriage will be demanded of all people. This could impact the ability of any religion to teach and practice its beliefs. Including adoption agencies. A YES vote will not hurt gays. In California, the law provides for marriage-related benefits to be given to civil unions and domestic partnerships. Proposition 8 does not diminish these benefits.

For your information:
- On Friday, October 10th, 2008 a first-grade class took a field trip to witness a lesbian wedding in California. Click Here for the article from the San Francisco Chronicle.- A father in Massachusetts was frustrated when his kindergartner was taught about homosexuality at school by the teachers. He insisted he be notified in the future before such things were discussed so he could pull his boy out of school. He was taken to jail. Click Here for the story.
-A Catholic adoption agency in the UK closed their doors because of the Government's new homosexual equality laws. The Equality Act forbids discrimination in the provision of goods and services on the basis of sexual orientation. The law was forced through Parliament last year despite past Prime Minister Tony Blair's recommendation that Catholic adoption agencies be exempted from the rules. Click Here for more info.
- Earlier this month judges in Connecticut overturned the state law (just as the judges in California did) to legalize gay marriage. This is not just an issue in California. We voted years ago to keep traditional marriage as the only marriage recognized in the state of California, 4 judges overturned our vote…and we need to fight back.
That is what this Proposition is about. This is happening everywhere and the leaders of the church and others have warned that the outcome of California’s vote will affect the way the other states vote.So PLEASE…even if you don’t live in California, put this on your blog or email this on. The Internet knows no state line. You know contacts in California that I don’t…and so do your friends. Please pass this on as it could eventually have an effect on everyone!

"Occasionally discouragement may darken our pathway; frustration may be a constant companion. In our ears there may sound the sophistry of Satan as he whispers, "You cannot save the world; your small efforts are meaningless. You haven't time to be concerned for others." Trusting in the Lord, let us turn our heads from such falsehoods and make certain our feet are firmly planted in the path of service and our hearts and souls dedicated to follow the example of the Lord." --Thomas S. Monson

Last day to apply for an absentee ballot if voting out of state. Click Here to get one.October 27th: Last day to apply for “Vote by Mail” Click Here for info. November 4th: Election day. Polls close at 8:00pm. Vote by mail must be received by this time and can be hand delivered if necessary.
YOU'VE BEEN TAGGED...Here's what you do: In the broadcast we were asked to "go viral on our blogs, etc" by Elder Ballard. This is my way of going viral. If you feel this is an important issue I ask that you copy and paste this post...and post it on your blog. PLEASE keep it at the top of your blog through November 4th. which you can adjust each time you post under the "edit post" option. The Internet knows NO STATE LINE. You know contacts in California that I do not...as do your friends and their friends...and so on. Please do this. If not for your own children and the effect it could have on them some day...for mine! After you have posted this...email this to your contacts and TAG all your blogging buddies to do the same. THANK YOU!

"THE FAMILY: A PROCLAMATION TO THE WORLD"

I am so grateful for a living prophet and living apostles. I know they receive revelation from a loving Heavenly Father. Marriage is ordained by God. We must protect the divine institution of Marriage and we must protect the Family. I know this proclamation is true. If we live by this council, our families and our societies will be blessed.

In 1995, the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles issued “The Family: A Proclamation to the World.” This proclamation is a declaration and reaffirmation of doctrines and practices that prophets have stated repeatedly throughout the history of the Church. It contains principles that are vital to the happiness and well-being of every family. Family members should study the proclamation and should live by its precepts.
“We, the First Presidency and the Council of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, solemnly proclaim that marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God and that the family is central to the Creator’s plan for the eternal destiny of His children.
“All human beings—male and female—are created in the image of God. Each is a beloved spirit son or daughter of heavenly parents, and, as such, each has a divine nature and destiny. Gender is an essential characteristic of individual premortal, mortal, and eternal identity and purpose.
“In the premortal realm, spirit sons and daughters knew and worshiped God as their Eternal Father and accepted His plan by which His children could obtain a physical body and gain earthly experience to progress toward perfection and ultimately realize his or her divine destiny as an heir of eternal life. The divine plan of happiness enables family relationships to be perpetuated beyond the grave. Sacred ordinances and covenants available in holy temples make it possible for individuals to return to the presence of God and for families to be united eternally.
“The first commandment that God gave to Adam and Eve pertained to their potential for parenthood as husband and wife. We declare that God’s commandment for His children to multiply and replenish the earth remains in force. We further declare that God has commanded that the sacred powers of procreation are to be employed only between man and woman, lawfully wedded as husband and wife.
“We declare the means by which mortal life is created to be divinely appointed. We affirm the sanctity of life and of its importance in God’s eternal plan.
“Husband and wife have a solemn responsibility to love and care for each other and for their children. ‘Children are an heritage of the Lord’ (Psalms 127:3). Parents have a sacred duty to rear their children in love and righteousness, to provide for their physical and spiritual needs, to teach them to love and serve one another, to observe the commandments of God and to be law-abiding citizens wherever they live. Husbands and wives—mothers and fathers—will be held accountable before God for the discharge of these obligations.
“The family is ordained of God. Marriage between man and woman is essential to His eternal plan. Children are entitled to birth within the bonds of matrimony, and to be reared by a father and a mother who honor marital vows with complete fidelity. Happiness in family life is most likely to be achieved when founded upon the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ. Successful marriages and families are established and maintained on principles of faith, prayer, repentance, forgiveness, respect, love, compassion, work, and wholesome recreational activities. By divine design, fathers are to preside over their families in love and righteousness and are responsible to provide the necessities of life and protection for their families. Mothers are primarily responsible for the nurture of their children. In these sacred responsibilities, fathers and mothers are obligated to help one another as equal partners. Disability, death, or other circumstances may necessitate individual adaptation. Extended families should lend support when needed.
“We warn that individuals who violate covenants of chastity, who abuse spouse or offspring, or who fail to fulfill family responsibilities will one day stand accountable before God. Further, we warn that the disintegration of the family will bring upon individuals, communities, and nations the calamities foretold by ancient and modern prophets.
“We call upon responsible citizens and officers of government everywhere to promote those measures designed to maintain and strengthen the family as the fundamental unit of society” (Ensign, Nov. 1995, 102).

It is hard for me to believe Mia is 6 months today. She is growing so beautifully and brings more joy in my life than I ever knew. I am so grateful for her sweet spirit. This morning, I woke up to her hand smacking my face with a great big smile. That really touched my heart. She is so happy and I am glad. Michael and I are having a fun time with her. We had a nice little celebration with some vanilla ice cream, playtime at the park and a visit to the Disney Store. Since we cannot be at Disneyland, well why not bring it too her. 5 Month Accomplishment

zI don't have the picture yet but I had to post Mia's big accomplishment. Yesterday was her 5 month day and we were having a fun time playing. She was enjoying her tummy time when I turned around she was performing. Mia rolled all the way over for the first time. I was so proud of her. When I clapped, Mia looked at me and laughed. She is doing so well. On another note, we are trying to introduce solid foods but Mia does not like them. That has been our only struggle because she just spits them back out of her mouth. She can be pretty silly. She is also building a very strong personality!!

We are doing well. Sure have enjoyed all the moisture and cooler weather. I have been teaching voice and piano lessons. That has been fun but sometimes a challenge. Some of my students are struggling with the motivation to practice. Michael is doing very well with work. WE have so much to be grateful for and we love being a family.

As soon as I can get the pictures on the computer, I will post Mia's 5 month photo. Hope everyone is well and happy.
