Renaming account?

Here I am nearly 5 years after asking if it's better to delete or rename (not my main,) going in the opposite direction of what we had concluded, because I'm too nostalgic of the community that formed around the project I had been running at the time. Not wanting to delete all those beautiful comments people left.

So I have an inactive side, and I'm too afraid to find out yet if the attached email still works or not. (I know I need to get on that!)
My question is, will the renaming of my account go off without a hitch so long as I know my password, or is there an email confirmation or something I'll have to deal with? (it's okay if there is, I just want to know ahead of time - so that if I need to change the attached email I have that taken care of first.)
