I had the week off of work so I got to do some fun things.
Like...
Going bowling with some old farts.
Image
Camping in the back yard
Image
Image
Image
Teaching Max some tricks.

Image
Bike rides

Image
Claire's school performance

Image
Even go to do some rock climbing.  Notice there are no ropes.  They called it boldering.  I called it rock climbing in a building that wasn't quite tall enough.
Image
That being said, Ashleigh was still very, very afraid.
Image
On a sad note, I took Claire and Lauren ice skating only to relize that I'm not super man.  It's too hard to take two kids ice skating alone.  Claire fell and hit her face. :(

smile

Image

Look what happened to Claire over the past week. Isn't she so cute without her front teeth? She went from a mouth full of teeth, to a toothless smile. I love it when kids lose both front teeth at the same time. I think it is so cute. Cory disagrees... he thinks it's a little too hillbilly. Believe me, she is cute now, just wait till those big teeth come in. Genetics are not on her side, but we might as well embrace it.... so lets all say it together, "Bring on the awkward years!"

Some things to remember about her losing her front teeth: Mom ended up pulling both out. Even when they are hanging by a thread Dad still doesn't think they are ready to come out. :) Believe it or not, the tooth fairy didn't come the first night after her tooth came out. Claire realized that it was because she had her tooth on the white part of the sheet which made the tooth camouflaged. We also talked about how her room was messy and tooth fairies, or anyone really, wouldn't like to come into a room like that, so she made sure that her room was super clean the next night. The tooth fairy  seemed to make it that night. The night before Valentines day, Claire lost her 2nd front tooth. The tooth fairy almost forgot again! She woke up at 5:45am with a dream about Claire's front tooth and flapped her fairy wings as fast as she could to pick up the tooth and leave behind a few coins. phew!

Max had his 1st birthday and his hair was long, so Ashleigh decided to give him his first hair cut.  The cutting wasn't too hard, it was deciding how to style it...

First the Mohawk.

Then modern chic.

Then Baby-Trump

And final, the CPA.

Max turns 1

Max turned 1 on Tuesday, the day after Halloween!  He is such a fun little boy.  I have to say that so far I have loved having a little boy and I notice the differences in temperment and personality already.  Max can walk real well now. He says mama, dada and ball. He can bark like a dog,( sounds kinda like ruh ruh). He is definetly more serious than my girls ever were.  It can be hard for some people get him to smile, but he always has a smile for his mama. He loves both of his sisters but lately has shown a little more prefrence to Lauren.  They play real well together. Max loves to give his mom and dad hugs and kisses. I feel so blessed to have this little boy in my life.  He brightens our day with his sweet smile and tender heart.

October Happenings

We had so much fun in October.  Here are some things we did to celebrate the fall season.

For the first time as a family we went Apple picking. It was lots of fun. The place we went was specialized in Organic apples so they did have lots of worm holes but the kids didnt mind.  They had such  a fun time. We spent the next 2 days making crock pot apple sauce which was so tasty. Hopefully this will be a tradition we can continue each fall.

Then we went to the pumpkin patch.  The kids had fun riding the horses, going to the petting zoo and feeding the animals, and riding the barrels pulled by the tractor. They also had an area filled with corn and the kids really enjoyed that. Grandma and Grandpa watched the kids afterwards and let us go back and do the corn maze.  It was fun and lasting memories were made.

When October began Claire wasted no time decorating the house.  She has become quite the artist. We painted pumpkins on paper to decorated the entry way, and colored pictures from albertsons and even traced her hands and taped them on the walls(very spooky). The girls painted their little baby pumpkins and helped pick out the designs for the big pumpkins.  Lauren chose winnie the poo, and Claire chose Snow White. My favorite decoration was the drawing of a monster named BOO that claire drew with a pen and taped to the front door.

Here's what we dressed up as this year...

We had an awesome time at Grandma and Grandpas annual halloween party. It was epic.

Image
The kids had so much fun Trick or Treating.  Although it was a cold night, the thought of eating loads of candy kept them going strong.

THE END!

Claire's first time taking the bus to school

Since Ashleigh is out of town.  I've been in charge of getting Claire to school.  Today, I let her ride the bus to school for the first time.

Image

I was glad that she was happy to see me, but sad that she was so happy to go.

Max is walking

Not his first steps, but the first time I'd seen him walk unprompted.

Lauren's Three!

Lauren turned 3.  She says that she's now ready to be a big girl.  We'll see...
