It has been a while

I always have good intentions on keeping up on the blogging. But sometimes life gets in the way and I just put it off or don't even think about it.

Things have been moving at a quick pace here in Cache Valley.  We are really enjoying our house and the ward we are in. The Stake and Ward we are in have been such a great help to us and a blessing for Liz. We feel so blessed and humbled to be in such a great and caring area.

It is starting to get warm here and we are loving being able to get outside more often.

Liz is still struggling with her health. She was recently in the ICU for 17 days due to some trach, lung and breathing issues as well as a very bad blood infection. She had her PORT removed since it was really infected with the blood infection.  She is home now, and i am giving her IV Antibiotics every 8 hours.  She is starting to feel a little better.

McKinley has been doing well. She is growing and becoming such a big girl in every aspect. She is very opinionated and open and shares her feelings really really well. She loves school and is very talkative.

I finally after 2 years of working part-time driving for CVTD, got hired on full time. I am currently driving the Call A-Ride Route, but will be transferring to a fixed route in May. I love my job. The people I work with have been great in understanding the unique situation with Liz and her health and have been very accommodating.  I am also doing my degree online, and have been doing really well. I enjoy it.

Well, thats about it. Nothing much else is going on here. Just enjoying the longer days and the warming weather.

Nothing ever goes how we want or need it

These past few weeks have brought a series of ups and downs for Liz and I.  After weeks of Liz having severe HAE attacks, a few ER visits, and some scares at home, Liz was  finally receiving answers and starting to get ready to fight her HAE head on. She did all that she could on her end medically and all she had to do was wait for the right people to do their jobs. Well, of course as has always happened with times like.  The OTHER people dropped the ball. She waited for almost 3 weeks with no answers. Finally yesterday she got some good news that everything has been submitted to the Mayo Clinic and now all she has to do is wait until they get their side figured out.  She has other options in the work if for some reason this does not work out. We pray and hope that it will.   The Mayo Clinic is best choice and option for her battle with HAE.

What is Next?????

The title says it all. What is next?

Liz and I ask that daily. We ask what is going to happen next to throw a big cog in our wheels. It seems that something comes up everyday. It can be small, or it can be big. Lately they have all been pretty big.

One of the biggest is that Liz's HAE treatment is at a stand still. She has become allergic to 2 of the main medications that were helping her.  She is on a new medication to help control her attacks. But this only for a short while. She can not be on it long term without serious adverse affects on her.

So we are taking baby steps day by day. She can not do much. She feels like a shell of her former self. She wants to be active, but somedays she can't even get out of bed or move that much because of the immense pain she is in. She is such a valiant fighter. She puts on a strong face and pushes through the difficulties that would make others give up.

Liz is going to be going to the Mayo Clinic sometime this fall. Her HAE Specialist referred her there to have some genetic testing done between Liz and McKinley and to see if there is anything else underlying her HAE. No one has ever been allergic or had the reactions to the HAE meds like Liz. As he stated, she is Unique.

So we do not know what is Next. No one does. We can plan and make schedules, but as we all know, Life gets in the way and directs us to areas that we did not know we needed and had to go.

Wish Fall was here

Its been a few weeks since i posted anything. Nothing much is going on. I am working for CVTD/LTD driving the Bus. I love it.  We are enjoying our new place. Liz is wishing Fall was here. Its been hot and with her HAE heat is really not her friend. McKinley is growing and enjoying her new school. She loves it, but gets upset when she can't eat whenever she wants. LOL.

Also, i am entered into a Photo Contest in the Local Paper. The Herald Journal.

I need votes to win. The Grand Prize is a new 6 person, 3 season tent worth about $600.00 bucks. I would love to win that so i can go camping with Liz and McKinley.
