Mac's Dallas Baby Shower

Image

ImageThe Hostesses
This little boy got to celebrate in Dallas a week after our shower in Auburn! We had a wonderful time at the Dallas shower and the hostesses really went "all out" and made the day very memorable. I guess that is what happens when your friends are all event planners! Thank you all for such a fabulous day! My parents were able to come out for the weekend and helped us get the nursery ready - and Aunt AA came on Sunday after her exams and stayed a few days during her Spring Break.

Mac's Auburn Baby Shower

We had such a wonderful time at Mac's Auburn Baby Shower in March! I realized that I only got a few pictures on my camera (the majority of the pictures were on my Mom's camera) but you can see pictures on Ginger's blog (click on The Stephens link). I am sad that I don't have a picture of the sweet hostesses who made the day so special - thank you all!! It was so much fun to come back to Auburn and celebrate this exciting time. We felt so blessed and so thankful that Mac is already so loved!

A special treat that weekend was that our dear friends, Lacy and Jeff, who just moved from Dallas back home to Pensacola were able to come up to Auburn and spend the weekend with us and Lacy was one of the hostesses. Lacy and Jeff were our "family" in Dallas and we miss them so much. Baby Phillips is due just 10 days after Mac - so we have loved sharing this experience with them. We look forward to many fun times ahead with babies...we love ya'll!

I've Been Tagged!

I have finally been tagged by my friend Joy Blocker Jonas. Thanks Joy...I have secretly been wanting to be "tagged"!

10 years ago I was: Ending my senior year at Auburn High School...stressing out about having to give the speech at graduation and REALLY ready to start college life at Auburn!

5 years ago I was: Getting married in 32 days....our 5 year anniversary is May 31st! We were busy with the final wedding plans and getting ready to begin married life in Dallas! It seems like just a year ago.....time really flies by.

1 year ago I was: Working like crazy! We had just started working on a major drug launch for a client that we had only a few weeks to plan - so lots of long hours, blood, sweat and tears went into the last part of April and early May!

5 things on my to do list today:
1. Pick up my stationary at Paper Affair
2.Mail birthday gifts to my niece and nephew and a wedding shower gift to Tyler and Betsy
3. Return something to Bed, Bath and Beyond
4. Work on lampshade I am creating for Mac's nursery
5. Mail a really overdue (try September) birthday card to Cissy for her 30th B'day along with some pics from her wedding! I thought it was stolen when my car was broken into this fall, but I found it on one of the shelves of my desk at work a few weeks ago.....pitiful!

5 snacks I enjoy:
1. Hot fudge sundae from McDonalds - they are small and just $1.00!!
2. Pita chips and hummus
3. Grapefruit
4. A glass of chocolate milk - the fat free/skim kind (it is a new pregnancy craving)
5. A large Limeade from Sonic with LOTS of ice

If I were a billionaire I would:
1. Give to our church (Northwest Bible), my "home" church (AUMC), and my grandparent's church (Shiloh Baptist) and other ministries that are dear to us.
2. Send some people that we know who are in full time ministry on an amazing vacation.....they deserve it!
3. Buy a jet...probably at least a 15 seater....so that I can fly my family around and go where I need to - at my convenience!
4. Buy a beach house somewhere in the Destin/Seagrove/Seaside/Rosemary Beach, etc... area - and I would share it with friends and family!
5. Start a scholarship at Auburn University in my grandmother's name for future teacher's and one in my grandfather's name for agriculture students.
6. Get more dogs! And a big yard for them to play in!!

5 bad habits:
1. Procrastinator
2. Perfectionist (which is why i procrastinate...)
3. Don't exercise enough
4. Eat too many carbs
5. Let my car get below empty before I go to the gas station

5 places I have lived:
1. Auburn, AL
2. New York, NY
3. Sea Island, GA
4. Dallas, TX
5. Munford, AL (lots of summers at Camp Mac) and Branson, MO (summer at K-Kountry)
6. El Reneuvo, Venezeula (I almost forgot that one, Ginger....how could I?!?!)

5 jobs I have:
1. Program Manager - Dallas Fan Fares
2. Assistant Program Manager - Dallas Fan Fares
3. Shelbi's Stuff - Dallas, TX
4. Gift Shoppe Inc - Auburn, AL
5. Auburn University Athletic Ticket Office
6. Today Show Intern, Sea Island Junior Staff, Babysitter.......

No pressure but I would love to know more about:
1. Ginger Stephens
2. Anna Hancy
3. Kaci Holland
4. Mallory Wilson - (now you have been tagged twice, Mal!)
5. Joanna Reaves - (now you have to start a blog Jo!!)

Going's On...

So....I have not been as good as I promised to be about updating the blog - but things have been a little busy and my home computer has been misbehaving, however, we just got a new laptop and I promise I am going to be better. Here is what has been going on:

I spent last week on a "business trip" in downtown Dallas because we had an event at the Fairmont Hotel all week and I "traveled" on the program to assist my two dear friends and co-workers, Lindsey and Kristin. It was fun for me because I did not have to be in charge and I could just help out all week, but we still stay in hotels and do not leave the hotel property when we have Dallas events...so I still felt like I was getting to travel. I was a little nervous as this was a high profile event and I really did not want my 9 month pregnant self causing any problems or interruptions. All went well - except for a Friday afternoon emergency visit to the hospital/doctor's office to check on my extremely swollen right foot (left foot was perfectly normal) but everything was okay and it was just due to the way that Mac was positioned. I think the doctor just wanted to be extra careful to rule out a blood clot - especially since I have not had any prior swelling and the left foot was normal. Thanks to Lindsey for driving the "ambulance" from the Fairmont to Presbyterian Hospital...at least we got a test drive to the hospital just in case! And thank you Lord for always taking care of your children!

My mom came for a last minute visit on Monday afternoon and left this morning. I was so sad to see her go but I am trying to remember that the next time I see her we will be celebrating Mac's arrival. She helped me do many of the "last minute" items on my to-do list and she even sweet-talked the man from GEEK SQUAD (the computer repair company) to come to my house and set up our wireless internet, transfer all of my pictures, music, files from my old desktop to my new laptop, etc.... so now I can be a better blogger! I think she was hoping that Mac would come while she was out here, but he obviously did not want to cooperate!
My office had a baby shower for the 3 girls all having boys in May/June on Tuesday. It was lots of fun and they gave us our car seat base and a Build-A-Bear that was wearing an Auburn onesie. We had a wonderful lunch and fabulous petit fours from Stein's Bakery. That reminds me that I need to post pictures from our Auburn and Dallas Baby Showers and the nursery...I will work on that soon! :)
Anyway, that is a little bit of what we have been up to. I will post pictures soon...since they are much more fun than my writing! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Thank You, Anna!

Image

Well....if anyone still even checks my blog (thank you Kristin B. and Mere - you may be the only two out there!) you will notice that it just received a fabulous and much needed face lift! My sweet friend, Anna, decided that it was time for me to re-enter the blogging world and start posting again...since I have only updated this thing two or three times - and she re-designed my entire blog all by herself! I love it and think it looks great - and I definitely think she could start a little "side business" designing blogs! Thank you so much, Anna, for making our blog beautiful and I promise to do a better job of keeping it updated.

Things are going well in Dallas -just counting down the days until Baby Ellis arrives! He actually has a name - Robert McLeod Ellis - and we are going to call him Mac. He is due on May 9th so just 5 more weeks (i hope!). We are finishing up the final few things in his nursery and we can't wait to meet Mac....it is amazing how we just love him so much already!

I am no longer traveling for work - since I am almost 35 1/2 weeks pregnant - but I am going to "travel" on an upcoming Dallas program in a few weeks - so that will be a nice break from the office and just the whole waiting period.

Robert is doing great and enjoying both work and school. He has kept up with one of his New Year's Resolutions to read at least one book a month - so maybe I will get him to post on the blog about the books he has read so far. He is not a reader - and I am a bookworm - so this has been fun for me to watch him sit on our deck and read...and he actually really enjoys it! It is amazing what going back to school can do for you! His new favorite book is "Minding the Store" by Stanley Marcus and it is basically the story of the creation of Neiman-Marcus and he has been raving and raving about how great a company Neiman-Marcus is - so I am really hoping that his love affair with Neiman-Marcus continues and I can start shopping there!

Well, this post is MUCH longer than I intended for it to be....sorry! I must go - because my sweet co-worker just brought me some Paciugo Mint Chocolate Chip gelato for an afternoon snack! Gosh, people are so nice to pregnant girls......I guess it will all end in a matter of weeks! :)
