Happy Valentine's Day!

Image
I hope everyone has a very Happy Valentine's Day! I cannot believe our little Valentine turned 9 months old on Friday, February 13th. He weighed 21 lbs. 15 oz. and was 28 3/4 inches. 74th percentile for both height and weight...so still a big boy!

I left Mac overnight for the first time for a really quick trip down to San Antonio with Mary Burton, Lee Anne and 3 of Mary Burton's best friends to go to the Taylor Swift concert. Mary Burton got the concert tickets from Santa Claus and I had the best time getting to spend time with Mary Burton and her friends. Taylor was fabulous and put on a great show! She is a doll....I love her!

ImageHere is a picture of Taylor Swift singing "White Horse". Mary Burton and the girls had seats much closer than ours (Lee Anne and me...a.k.a. the old people) but other than the drunk girl sitting next to us that kept yelling, "Joe Jonas sucks" we had a fabulous time!

For those of you who read the below post yesterday, I am so sad to say that Kristi passed away this morning. The wonderful part is that she is now in Heaven, pain free and cancer free...but my heart breaks for those left here on Earth that will miss her - her husband, 3 boys (their ages are around 6, 3, and 5 months), her parents and the rest of her family and friends.

Lately, I have had very blatant reminders of how precious life is - and how short our time on Earth is. I am more challenged now than ever to make the most of it - not to have regrets. Choose to forgive your husband if he does something that irritates you. Call a friend out of the blue to check on them. Send a card or email to someone just saying that you love them. Don't worry if your house isn't "perfect" or your clothes/shoes/purse aren't on Neiman Marcus' "Top Ten Must Haves for Spring" list. Who cares if you don't make the cutest crafts with your kids or bake the most "gourmet" Valentines Dinner. It's not all bad stuff but it just doesn't matter. I am writing this as a reminder to myself mostly, but I know we all struggle with getting caught up in what the world says we should do and we let those things define us and our self worth. There really is only one word. Jesus. He is all we need.

Another Prayer Request

I would like to ask you all to please pray for Kristi Walker. I do not know Kristi personally, but she is a college friend of some of my friends that went to Baylor. She is in very critical condition as she is fighting cancer - and fighting a very serious infection right now. You can read the below update for their specific prayer requests.

http://www.carepages.com/carepages/KristiWalker/updates/1977954?client_code=unchealthcare&ipc=mur

Kristi is a young wife and mother and I just ask that you join me in praying for Kristi, her husband and children and family and the team of medical professionals that are caring for her in North Carolina.
Thank you!

Please pray for Cora's parents...

Please pray for this family...

I came across their blog about a week ago and it just broke my heart. Today, their precious little baby Cora went to Heaven.

I really cannot imagine. I just can't. Please pray for them.

Happy Belated Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, Happy Election Day & MLK Day and Happy "whatever else we missed" during my blogging hiatus....hope everyone is doing well and having a great start to 2009!

I haven't really wanted to blog lately....been thinking about going "private" (however you do that) or just stopping altogether. BUT.....then someone told me about how you can make all of your blog entries into a scrapbook type thing (is that true?? if so, someone tell me how to do it!) and I figured I better jump back on the bandwagon because the chances of me actually finishing a scrapbook are about slim to none! Not to mention that making your blog private sounds like a major pain - so I better just get to writing! Or posting pictures!

Mac is 8 1/2 months old and we just cannot believe it! My how time flies! He is loving his solid foods - his favorites are peas, green beans, sweet potatoes, yogurt and avocado. He is a great eater (if you haven't noticed) and the only thing he has not liked is rice cereal and I don't blame him one bit! He also LOVES Puffs...thanks to Joanna who visited us and told me that Mac would love Puffs and that we should try them. It only took me giving them to him a couple of times and now he starts getting excited whenever he sees that yellow tube come out of the cabinet! Those things are magic...especially in restaurants or whenever you need something to keep them busy. It has been so neat to see him learn to feed himself - although it does make you a little sad that they are becoming so independent.

As for crawling, Mac prefers the "army crawl" or as some would say, "fireman's crawl" over the traditional method - but he can get wherever he wants to...which is usually under some piece of furniture. His latest thing he loves to do is sit up in his crib and scratch and knock on the wall when he is supposed to be taking his nap. He does this for about 30 minutes before he falls asleep and he has the best time. I hear him just squealing and laughing and I want to go play with him...but I know better!

Have a great day!
