Yesterday Laila had her 2 month checkup. She now weighs 12 lbs 10 ozs and is 24 inches long.

our christmas

This past Christmas we got to spend lots of time with both sides of our family. Christmas Eve and Christmas morning we went to Brian's parents house. Then, Christmas afternoon we went to my parent's house. We got to meet our new little nephew Colby, who is a month younger than Laila. The kids got spend lots of time playing with their cousins and going to the park, since the weather was so warm. This was also the last Christmas with the sweet family dog KoKo. She is very sick and is dying. It was very sad to see her in the condition she was in. When we got back from my parents house Dario started crying, we asked him what was wrong and he asked us if he got sick would he die like KoKo. So sad, we will miss you KoKo!

happy birthday dario

Today Dario turned 6! He is growing up way to fast! To celebrate we went to Chucky Cheese, he has been going there every year for his birthday since he was two, I guess it's a birthday traditon now. Afterward we went to Brian's parents house for cake and to open presents. Happy birthday Dario, we love you!

seven weeks old

Laila turned seven weeks old this week. Yesterday was a rough one. Laila slept all day, I would try to wake her up and she would go right back to sleep. That night she was awake ALL night until five in the morning, whining the whole time. All I want for Christmas is a good nights sleep!

winter wonderland

It was a little too cold for Aiden!

Late last night it started snowing! It rarely snows here, so everyone was very excited. Dario's school started two hours late, so the boys went out and played in the snow as soon as they woke up. They had fun making and throwing snowballs. We didn't have any gloves for them to wear so they wore some of Brian's socks over their hands. The snow was beautiful while it lasted!

six weeks old

I can't believe Laila is already six weeks old. She has now discovered that it is more fun to be held than to set in her swing. Needless to say, I haven't been able to get anything done and my house is a mess. That's okay, holding a baby is more fun than doing dishes anyway!

christmas tree

This year we decided to get a live Christmas tree. We are lucky to live about 30 minutes from several Christmas tree farms. On Saturday we took a scenic drive out to one of the farms. There were rows and rows of beautiful trees to choose from. Aiden went crazy running down the rows of trees. Unfortunately we got there right as the sun was going down so I wasn't able to take that many pictures. Next year we will have to go earlier! The boys helped choose our tree and the farmer cut it for us. I'll post pictures when it is all decorated.

5 weeks old

Ava has been saying the funniest things. Last night I was looking at photos with her. She saw a picture of herself when she was a baby and said, "that's me when I was a baby," then she saw a picture of Dario when he was a toddler and said, "that's me when I was a little boy!" There is no telling what she'll say next!

four weeks old

One month ago Laila was born. I have almost adjusted to the lack of sleep and taking care of four children instead of three. Yesterday Laila smiled for the first time at me, which makes up for all the lost sleep! Also, I found out that my sister in law, Courtney, went into labour today! No news yet on the baby.

a wedding

Yesterday, Brian's youngest brother got married, which makes Brian and me feel a bit old, when we got married his brother was only 12. Where did the time go! I didn't get the chance to get a picture of the bride and groom, but they looked great. By the way, the bride now has the same first and last name as me, family gatherings are going to be confusing!

Today Laila had her 2 week checkup. She now weighs 9 lbs. 2ozs. and is 21 inches long. She is starting to be more alert and awake for long periods. She is my only baby who hasn't had their days and nights mixed up. Thank goodness she isn't up all night!

happy birthday Ava

This past Saturday Ava turned 2. I can't believe she is two already! We had a little party for her. My family came and brought and cooked all of the food, which was a big help. Ava had lots of fun playing with all of her cousins and opening her presents. Two is such a cute age, hopefully it won't go by as fast as the last year did!

Baby Laila was born on October 29, 2008. We weren't expecting her to come so soon! We thought it would be another 2 weeks until she was born. She weighed 8 lbs. 9 ozs. I got to the hospital around noon and at 12:45 she was born. Once again my labor was so fast that I was unable to get an epidural. However, the pain was well worth it because she is such a sweet baby. We are happy that we were able to bring her home with us today and are excited to have her as a new addition to our family.

family art day

This past Saturday we went to family arts day at the art museum. The kids got to make lots of fun art projects including these silly Halloween costumes. In honour of Halloween there were creepy crawly things you could eat ( fried worms and fried crickets). Brian ate several and said they actually tasted sort of good. Aiden tried to eat a cricket, but got as far as the head and then decided that was enough!

caramel apples

Last night we made caramel apples with the kids, probably one of the messiest things to make with small children. When we were done there was caramel everywhere! The pumpkin was drawn by Aiden, he is excited for Halloween!

Ava and Aiden were being so cute when they were playing together, I just had to take a couple of pictures. As soon as I pulled out the camera Ava started making the funniest faces. In the top picture she is showing me her "princess smile".
