Intervention

Image
Image After having 2 babies refuse the pacifier, I was thrilled when Ben loved his. It was a magic tool to comfort him and help him fall asleep. Who cares about nipple confusion? People said it would be hard to take the binky away, but I didn't care. We blissfully sailed through the first year, ignoring the thought of the eventual seperation. Then we began the second year. We faced the facts. We couldn't send our kid to college with his binky.. It wasn't if it was when we would take it away. "After Memorial Day: turned into, "After Laurel's wedding" and then the date was pushed back to "After the Higbee reunion." Until then, we continued pushing the pacifier on Ben, creating an oral fixation that I'm sure he'll need therapy for. Finally the day arrived. I was just as devastated as Ben. I was losing my magic button, the one that gave me silence and a happy baby. Poor Ben cried every time we took it away and my convictions weakened. I began to wonder if other kids had taken their pacifiers to college......Maybe after Christmas.......

Yellowstone National Park

The girls were a little disappointed to learn that Yellowtone Park didn't have toys or swings like a regular park, but they still managed to have a great time at the Higbee Family Reunion 2007 in Island Park. I must admit, I was a little terrified at the thought of camping for a week with 3 little kids, but the kids loved it and they did so good sleeping in a tent every night.

They loved playing with their cousins, swimming in firehole, seeing Yellowstone Falls, going to "Footloose" at the Playmill, and just about everything we did. They were pretty good troopers despite no naps and a few chilly nights. ImageGood times for everyone!

Here's to the happy Couple

Image
Whew. 350 invitations, 4 dozen mints, 200 cupcakes, 7 flower girl dresses, 4 homemade pies, 20 bagel sandwiches, an undislosed number of the noted hamrolls, and thousands of pictures. Months of preperation and bam, it's over.

It was a great weekend. I loved going to the temple with my family. It was such a flashback to our wedding SEVEN years ago. How can that be? Joe and I couldn't believe all that has happened in these 7 years.

Annabel loved being a flower girl, loved staying in a hotel with everyone, loved dancing at the reception and has been in mourning ever since. She saved her flower girl headband under her pillow so she won't forget. We were listening to one of the songs from the wedding, and Annie started crying. She said, "I'm just so sad it's over."

Luckily, we had the Higbee family reunion to look forward to. We'll give the scoop on that in a few days!
