I work at the intersection of computer science and neuroscience, where I believe fields like computational neuroscience and neurotechnology will yield cutting-edge technologies and ultimately—invaluable healthcare solutions.
From a young age, I've been infatuated with the brain. In high school, I spent several summers interning at the
University of Kansas Medical Center. I investigated the implications of the amyloid-β protein for Alzheimer's disease and the relationship between the gastrointestinal system and
spinal cord injury.
At Northeastern University, I began to notice remarkable parallels between computation and biological cognition. Since then, I've been investigating how those disciplines might inform or
advance each other. As a Research Fellow at the Children's Mercy Research Institute, I'm studying neonatal brain development by reconstructing the functional connectome: a map of the correlations in neural activity among brain regions, denoting which regions work synchronously with one another. I'm grateful for the opportunity to continue my
work at Boston Children's Hospital and Harvard Medical School this fall, where I'll use deep learning techniques to study fetal development.
Outside of the lab, I spend my time listening to Clairo and caring for my ever-growing collection of houseplants!
An optimal pre- and post-processing workflow for reconstructing brain networks to create individual connectomes from neonatal rs-fMRI data.
