File Folder Emoji Meaning

A tabbed folder, as used to file papers in a cabinet or as an icon for a file on a computer. Most platforms depict a yellow folder, as manila, with the tab shown at the left.

Commonly used for various content concerning filing, organization, and work, especially at an office.

Apple’s folder is gray, while Twitter’s is blue, as were earlier designs from Facebook and Huawei. Google’s design previously featured multiple tabs, while Microsoft’s included a single blue tab.

Nearly identical in appearance and use to 📂 Open File Folder, which is slightly open.
