EMR recently announced the award of a five-year framework agreement by the UK’s Anglian Water for the provision of Operational Telecommunications (OT) services.
Under the terms of the contract, EMR will deliver comprehensive OT support services to Anglian Water’s extensive regional network. The partnership will enhance the utility’s operational reliability and directly support its network modernisation efforts through specialised technical expertise including:
Anglian Water, geographically the largest of 10 water and wastewater companies in England and Wales, supplies more than one billion litres of water daily. This water is treated across 140 water treatment works and distributed through over 37,000 kilometres of pipes throughout the East of England.
Generation, transmission and distribution, DMR, microwave radio and telemetry
Transmission site interconnectivity
Environmental and asset monitoring for cities and lighthouse authorities
Ports, airports, rail and motorway monitoring, radio and optical communications
Water and wastewater network control and leakage management solutions
High–availability, off-network connectivity through a variety of media
On-site communications, cyber security and secure internet connectivity on- and off-shore
Radio communications, computer-aided dispatch, voice recording, GPS tracking, paging

The EMR team has a high level of competence around secure communications. We’re very happy with the results and keen to strengthen our service portfolio with their assistance.

Our work with EMR doesn’t stop once all control projects are done. Our relationship is based on a partnership which continues to evolve as we acquire more assets. The team are flexible, proactive and great to work with.

Our radio rollout is happening exceptionally fast. That tells me our engineers are comfortable with the technology. EMR might be based in another country but their team are more than willing to make themselves available at short notice and that geographic distance doesn’t cause an issue.

I want us to be proactive rather than reactive in managing our radio networks and that’s what we’ve achieved with EMR through this contract. We’ve moved to a fully integrated and managed system for everything from operations to evacuation and person location. That’s innovation, that’s clever.

The solution proposed by EMR and its technology partners met and, in some cases, surpassed our requirements. Their methodology of maintaining the legacy system while building the new network was the most practical and suited our capital investment model best. Additionally, as a local company, their support is very responsive and commensurate with a piece of critical national infrastructure.

I have confidence in EMR as a trusted partner. We’re an investment house, not an IT company and so we have to rely on a network of trusted partners who are our eyes and ears on IT issues. Our success is based on EMR’s ability to understand our needs and the agility to execute on those needs.

We were under huge time pressure to get this emergency system in place,” said Rioch Farrelly, operations and quality engineer with CLH Aviation Ireland. The system had to be fully operational before the underground hydrant went live. The team at EMR were extremely knowledgeable and they brought that expertise to bear in the design, planning and deployment of a quality system, which was completed within a matter of weeks.

We’re working closely with the team at EMR to ensure we have the support we need to deliver our plans. Where we have technical challenges, we work together to overcome them, and the project team is very responsive which is important as we make this investment a reality for our customers.
