Endo is building the foundation for a secure, decentralized computing future, where code can be trusted, collaboration is seamless, and innovation isn’t limited by borders or platforms.
Endo is led by a team of web pioneers and security experts focused on solving one of the internet’s most pressing challenges: how to build systems that are both powerful and safe. With Endo, we are creating technologies that enable composable software built from arbitrary components, written by strangers—software that works together even when it doesn’t fully trust each other.
Endo is on a mission to make decentralized computing secure by default. By applying rigorous object-capability security principles, we empower developers to build applications that are resilient to bugs, exploits, and vulnerabilities in third-party code. We also enable them to safely interact and engage with other programs to the degree that makes sense for their individual risk profile. This vision directly supports the broader distributed and permissionless ecosystem, where composability and interoperability require strong guarantees of safety and trust.
Endo was founded by thought leaders in distributed systems and secure programming. Our work is deeply influenced by decades of research and development led by Dr. Mark S. Miller, a pioneer in object-capability security and the original creator of the E programming language. Mark’s contributions, including co-authoring the Caja project at Google, co-developing SES (Secure ECMAScript), and acting as Agoric’s Chief Scientist, form the philosophical and technical core of Endo’s technology.
Another key figure behind Endo is Kris Kowal, creator of Q (the first widely used JavaScript promise library), and author of the CommonJS module system popularized by Node.js and NPM. Kris has been contributing to many open-source projects that brought modern JavaScript asynchronous programming to life. He continues to shape how developers think about distributed and concurrent systems.
Endo is proud to be integrated into Decentralized Cooperation Foundation (DCF)’s organizational umbrella. Through this partnership, we are working to bring safe distributed computing practices to the wider ecosystem. As part of DCF, we collaborate with leaders across the Web3 and open-source communities to help establish the standards and protocols for the next era of internet infrastructure.
At the heart of Endo’s work is a deep commitment to enabling secure interactions in decentralized environments. Our contributions include:
Endo’s technology is already impacting projects like Agoric, where secure smart contracts power decentralized economic systems. The world’s leading Web3 wallet, MetaMask, is also using Endo’s HardenedJS to power its plugin Snaps. Snaps provide an open, modular approach to extending MetaMask by allowing third parties to add new features like support for entirely new blockchain ecosystems to the wallet’s existing infrastructure.
The future of secure, decentralized computing is being built now. Whether you’re designing distributed applications, building developer tools, or exploring new frontiers in secure computing, Endo invites you to be part of a safer, smarter web.
