Engineering:Userboxes

The Engineering Wiki includes userboxes to customize your profile page. You can use these to express yourself, including sharing who you are and what your interests are.

How to use them[]

Go to your profile page and edit it.

Visual editor: Go to Insert > Template. Then start typing the name of the template, which begins with "User." Select the userbox's name. From there, a dialog box will let you customize it.
Source mode: Type the name of the template between two brackets, e.g. {{User is engineer}}. Visit the template's page to see parameter options.

Our userboxes use the "Userbox themed" template and are designed to let you customize them. You can edit the box color, make it light/dark theme, and sometimes edit icon choices and text. Some of our userboxes, like {{User favorite color}}, are meant to be customized to say what you like.

If you want to display your userboxes in columns, you can use our {{Userbox display columns}} template to create a column layout.

For example, here are three versions of {{User fan}} customized with colors, icons, and text.

This user is a fan of Star Trek.

This user is a fan of Hedy Lamarr.

This user is a fan of historical fiction.

Making userboxes[]

You can make your own userboxes too.

Make a new page. Name it "Template:User something" and replace "something" with whatever you want to say.
Copy-paste the content of another userbox you like.
- {{User loves solving puzzles}} is a simple example and {{User has X}} is an example with complex code.
Edit the content to make it say whatever you'd like. Try playing with parameter options if you want it to be more customizable.
- Try using control + F to replace the copied template's name with the new template's name inside the text. Make sure to proofread afterwards.
- Check Category:Icons for images you can use.
Test out the userbox by previewing it. Does it look good? If so, save it.
