Dirk at Bat

This is an awesome video of my All-Star husband. He's so amazing! Check out that swing!

Creepy Crawlies

OImagekay, what's the deal with arachnids and insects at my house lately???

This spider was in the corner of my office. I only saw it because I was at my computer and Dirk walked in. As I turned and looked up to talk to him, I saw it! I made him take the picture before I made him kill it, which was pretty tricky since it was suspended away from the wall in it's web. Dirk you are my hero, and quite the photographer I might add. I love how you can see the web.

And here's the other large spider I found under the eave on the porch. This one was gray and fuzzy. It's web was cool too, but you can't see it here. Oh well...Image

This grasshopper was at the top of the wall on my front porch. I'm pretty proud of myself for getting as close as I did to something that can jump really far. No joke this thing was a good 4 inches! Eww!!!!

Joshua Starts Preschool

Image Joshua was SO excited to start preschool. Ever since Jacob started school he's felt a little out of the loop. He had to take his Winnie the Pooh backpack, just like Jacob.

When we got there, he ran inside and said, "Bye, Mom!" Yeah, I guess he was ready for this. When I picked him up, he ran to me and said, "Mom, can I do this again!!!???" Yes, he was definitely ready for this. However, I don't know if I am. I'm glad he only goes one day a week. I don't know what I'd do without my little Joshie.

Jacob had his first soccer game today in 104 degree heat but he still had fun as a teammate of the Giants. He was sad that he couldn't block the Green Gators from making a goal but he got up and kept on playing.

Upside-down and Backwards

The first photo was from a couple of days ago. Noah had just eaten an Oreo and put Jacob's sunglasses on. He asked me, "Dat cool Mommy?"
Then this morning after telling him to get dressed I hear, "Help Mommy, help!" So I find him in Chloe's swing, still not dressed and backwards, of course.
I set him free and again told him to get dressed and he comes back with his clothes on backwards, of course! He was so proud of himself, too...Silly Noah!

Helix Class of '98 - 10-Year Reunion

ImageSo my high school reunion rolled around before I had even realized that it had been 10 years since I graduated. Would someone tell me to where does time fly? I'd really like to know.
I swore I would never go to a high school reunion but I'm so glad I did. It was so fun to see everyone again and to hear what people are up to these days. Surprise, surprise, I had the most kids. Some of my friends were shocked that I had 4. They said they have never known anyone with 4 kids. Crazy, huh! It truly was a blast from the past!

My Little Girl

Image
So Chloe was almost 4 weeks old and I realized that aside from hospital pictures, I didn't have any pictures of just the two of us. With Dirk gone and Jacob at school, who was going to take it? I did my best to take it myself so pardon the extreme close-up. I just love her smile in this photo though.

First Day of School

Image
Jacob could hardly wait for his first day of school. He was so excited when August 18th finally came. He got all his clothes laid out and helped make his lunch the night before. When I woke up that morning he was dressed and ready to go. He said,"Good morning Mom! I'm all ready and I already had breakfast and I got my brothers breakfast too, so can we go to school now?" I told him that school didn't start until 8:30 so he'd have to wait a little while since it was only 6:30! He's so funny.

This is a tag I got from Autumn where you get to figure out some new names for yourself...here are mine:

3.YOUR DETECTIVE NAME: (Your favorite color, and your favorite animal) Green Shrike

End of Summer Fun

For Jacob's last Monday before school started, I decided to take the kids down to our little cove for some fun.

Image Jacob loves running back and forth from the ocean to his sandcastle with his pail of water ensuring the proper level of moisture for sandcastle stability and mote levels are maintained.
Image Joshua loves digging in the sand to find seashells for me. He's so sweet.
Image Noah weaned himself off eating beach sand last year and has upgraded himself to digging a pit and rolling around in it making sure that every part of his body is covered in sand.
Image Chloe was not quite 4 weeks old here and she seemed to enjoy the beach by sleeping the whole time we were there.

Blessing Day - August 10, 2008

Image
Image I love my family so much! Look how cute my little boys are!

Image My Mom made her dress. I love it so much and I'm so grateful for all the time she spent to make it just what I've always wanted. THANK YOU MOM!!!!!

True Love

Image
Okay so here's a funny story. When Jacob found out he was going to get another sibling he was positive it was a girl. When I told him that it might be another boy he just brushed me off. So about a week before we were to find out what gender the baby was I had to take Jacob to a church meeting with me. One of the Primary leaders was there and here's the conversation that occurred:
Sis. H: Jacob, are you going to be getting a brother or a sister?
Jacob: It's a sister. I'm not having any more brothers.
Sis. H: Oh really? What if its a brother? You know, my son doesn't have any brothers, only sisters, I'm sure he'd love to have a brother.
Jacob: Sister H.!!! If it's a boy, YOU CAN ADOPT HIM!!!!!!!!!!!
Then a day or two before we found out, we were at Costco and walked by little dresses and Jacob was insistent that we get one for his sister.
Jacob: Mom, we have to get this dress for my baby sister!
Me: Um, well Jacob, it could be a boy you know.
Jacob: (Long pause looking at me like I'm an idiot, then says the following with an attitude) Mom, if it's a boy we're going to give it to Sis. H.....REMEMBER!?!?!
Oh, DUH, I forgot...
Needless to say we were all very happy that it was a girl and that we didn't have to go through the adoption process!
He would count down the days until her due date for months and helped buy her clothes and get their room ready since they share a room together.
He is all too proud to have her and loves her SO much. In fact a few weeks ago he came up to me and said, "Mom, I have just falled in love with her!"

Daddy's Pinky Finger

Image
Just another picture I like.

Eskimos

ImageI love this picture. I have a picture just like this for each child. I just love how their noses are just barely touching, and how tiny she looks in his arms. Dirk might be holding her, but Chloe has him wrapped around her little finger!

I'm a Big Brother Now!!!

Image Noah was all too excited to finally have a baby sister to hold. Too bad you can't tell by his smile...

Just Joshua

Image This is my Joshua!!! He can be so funny sometimes, okay most of the time. One Sunday after church, I told him to change his clothes and in the process, of course he gets side-tracked and found pink vampire teeth. How he managed to get his shirt off and keep his tie on, I'll never know!

All Smiles

Image Chloe was only 3 days old when one of her first smiles were captured on film.

Think Pink

Image
Dirk took this picture of me and Chloe as we were getting ready to leave the hospital. It was so surreal dressing a baby in a pink dress, pink socks, pink hat, and pink blanket. Until that point she looked like all the boys with her generic white hospital shirt, hat, and blanket. As soon as I got her ready though, it really hit me that I have a daughter. I LOVE IT!

Okay, so here goes.

Okay, so I thought that I'd give blogging a try. I guess I'm hoping it'll be easier than keeping a journal since I'm not very good at that. This will be just snippets of my life as I see it so hopefully you'll stay tuned as I figure this whole thing out! ;o)
