The Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost is the chief academic officer of the University of California, Berkeley. The Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost, in consultation with the Berkeley Division of the Academic Senate, provides oversight for academic planning and programming, the development and implementation of academic policy, and the academic personnel process.
Benjamin E. Hermalin serves as the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost (EVCP) at UC Berkeley. As Executive Vice Chancellor, Hermalin serves as Chancellor Rich Lyon’s leading senior executive responsible for UC Berkeley’s day-to-day operations, working closely with the Chancellor to develop and implement his vision and priorities for the campus.
As Provost, Hermalin is UC Berkeley’s chief academic officer, responsible for the planning, development, implementation, assessment, and enhancement of all academic programs, policies, and supporting infrastructure.
