As Audrey is growing up she is constantly discovering fun new ways to play. It is so fun to get to observer her discovering the world (and I do my best to provide photographic evidence of said discovery).
For example, she had her first one on one interaction with a book recently – of course she actually tried to eat it…

Audrey is a very fortunate little girl. Not only does she get homemade blankets and dresses, knitted cute hats and sweaters from her grandmothers (and occasionally her mother) – she is benefiting from having an extremely talented Aunt as well!

Audrey just received this darling dress from Aunt Charity and wore it for the first time this week.

So I love love love the dress in this pattern and I just made the dress again last week hence, given that the hat from M4478 that I just made turned out too big, I decided to try out the hat from this pattern. Audrey wore a small in the dress so I decided to make a small hat (it is the smallest size anyhow).

I think that it turned out even bigger… Read the rest of this entry »

The weather is beautiful this week – mid 70s and sunny, meanwhile my daughter has blue eyes, seemingly blond hair, and likely light sun-burnable skin to match. Therefore, in an effort to be prepared, I decided that Audrey needs a hat – a brimmed sun-hat. We bought such a hat months ago in San Diego, but it is still too large – so I have been on a kick to make a cute sun-hat that fits right now. (I also made the hat from Butterick 3782 which I will cover in the next post). This turned out to be harder than I originally thought it would be…

So friends have been asking for ages if I have sewn anything for Audrey yet, and sadly thus far the answer has been no. However, I have been working Audrey’s napping this week, and so yesterday I finally dug out my sewing table and sewed her a dress:

Audrey had her 4 month appointment yesterday. She did really well on all her milestones – holding up her head – arm strength – tracking etc, and is ahead on the rolling over  (yea!)

So the doctor said that by the next appointment she should be ‘tripod-ing’ – sitting with her hands either between her legs or at her sides to help balance her – so we decided to work on it…

When Alice told me about the Ikea floor gym she said that as soon as she bought it Finn learned to roll over and wouldn’t use it any more. Audrey has been turning from her back to her side for awhile now, but hasn’t seemed altogether motivated to get to her stomach.
So I bought and assembled the Floor Gym Wednesday evening – fast forward to Friday evening (last night).
Audrey looked like she was trying really hard to roll from her back to her front – so I grabbed my camera:

Each month or so I pull out a book our friends gave us,

“The New First Three Years of Life”
, Audrey’s next stage of life. I think the most helpful section is the suggestion of what toys she needs (the Crib Mirror worked wonders – she still loves it). This section (3.5 to 5.5 months) suggested a floor gym (basically a structure that hangs toys above for Audrey to play with). Read the rest of this entry »

So I had a friend’s baby shower to go to this past Tuesday.  I really wanted to make her something (she decorated darling burp cloths as a gift for me) but with Audrey I really haven’t had the time to sew anything (even my raincoat sleeves are sadly unfinished – although I am working on that).

Anyhow, I went to Carters and bought her a cute dress and some denim shorts and decided to decorate a onsie.
