For some reason I have always wanted to go to Prague – so I was excited when this trip we had a chance to visit. In retrospect I didn’t really know much about the history of the city – but I was right that it is very beautiful!

So, previous to this trip, my entire body of knowledge concerning Dresden came from reading Slaughterhouse-five and learning a bit of the history of the fire bombing. However, it turns out Dresden is a beautiful city (still working on rebuilding) with some historic and some modern elements.

Tuesday was our last day in Berlin and finally it stopped raining! For the day Chris adopted a new strategy – eat early, eat often. I think it might have to do with the near meltdown someone had (ok – it might have been me) the day before when we had just a bit too long a break between food – never a good thing with me – and during pregnancy it can be really bad.

Sunday was again really rainy (seriously – July anyone – everyone here looks like they are wearing mid winter clothing – cute – but not what I packed…)
Anyhow, we ended up leaving a little late for the Tiergarten ward – and there was some construction on one of the trains – so we ended up getting there a bit late. We did, however, stay for the English speaking Sunday school. The teacher was great, and we all really liked the ward. It is relatively small, but has such a great and friendly feel!

So on Saturday we decided to head to the Pergamom Museum (the museum that everyone says you can not miss in Berlin) after a leisurely breakfast. The only problem with that approach was that, since it was raining buckets, and the museum is indoors – there was a crazy long line by the time that we arrived…

My rain outfit – not quite appropriate – you wouldn’t believe how soggy those shoes got!

Thursday was a beautiful sunny day so we decided it would be the perfect day to see Berlin. We headed out on the train (have I yet mentioned that public transportation in Berlin is amazing? Especially since we aren’t that far out of Mitte – the center).

So Wednesday was St. Peter’s and St. Paul’s day.  I guess you really can’t spend a week in Rome without expecting to run into a Catholic Holiday!  Anyhow, it turned out that the Castel Sant’Angelo was open so we headed there as soon as Sam was done for the day.
