Love Begins At Home

I really love finished a project. Especially when I could go into labor at any moment. It's nice to (literally) get all those loose ends tied up!



I made this wall hanging for a dear friend who recently moved away. I thought she might need a little house-warming present.



I have always wanted to make a Dresden and do echo quilting!





The fabrics are Vintage Modern by Bonnie & Camille for Moda. I'm working on another similar one for myself!

Back to School Card

School starts this week! I'm also going to go into labor any second, so I wanted to whip up a little gift for the kids' new teachers before that happens. I found this card through Pinterest:

Clearly, her's is way cooler than mine, but at least I have something to give! I wrote "Looking forward to a great school year!" on the inside and had the kids sign them.

Hogan's Nursery

We're expecting our new little boy in a couple of weeks, and I finally got around to putting all of his room together! I think the nesting phase has finally kicked in.

 I made the name sign above his bed, along with the quilt and bedskirt. I was really drawn to a black & red theme for the room, with rockets. I made the star stickers out of vinyl on my Silhouette.

A crafty friend of mine made the pictures here. They fit the room so perfectly, she knows me so well!

 This is an upward view of the mobile hanging above the changing table. The tutorial for this is at Nap Time Crafters.

 This is my diaper stash--I've got a basket for disposible and one for cloth.

The same crafty friend made this great mobile. I was wanting to make one just like it (but probably wasn't going to get around to it). It's like she read my mind!

The rocket pillow was made by the same friend--LOVE IT! I also repainted a thrift store lamp and recovered the shade to match the bedding.

We were convinced at first that we were having a girl, so I bought a matching girly-printed swing and car seat. When we found out it was a boy, we weren't too disappointed though--it just meant I could try my hand at recovering them! This is a pretty simple slip-on cover made from fabric and minky.

This isn't my favorite craft project in the room, but I figured I would picture it. I painted over a thrift store frame.

 Here's the car seat that I recovered. It's probably my favorite project in the room. I just couldn't believe I was able to contour it right!

I clearly need to thread the straps through before little Hogie comes.

I'm also pretty proud of this car seat tent I made. It's from a small duvet cover from IKEA that I bought years ago and never used.

This is a door decoration that my daughter and I made together for the hospital.

Another crafty friend made a door sign for me. She made some years ago for my older kids that say "Brother" and "Sister," so we knew Hogan had to have one too!

The June Bag in Fandango

The June Bag (pattern by Fourteen May-Melissa Mortenson from the Polka Dot Chair).
I've adored this bag since I first saw it on Melissa's blog. And then I won a giveaway for the pattern! It was definitely fate.
This bag is made with 4 fat quarters, interfacing and fusible fleece. I used Fandango by Kate Spain. It's a great size and I love the combo of colors! Some friends have asked if I can make it a little bigger for an Ipad, however, I'm not sure I possess the math skills to pull that off.
I definitely recommend this pattern and can't wait to make more!

Vintage Sheet Maxi Dress

I found this vintage sheet at a thrift store last month. It was just funky enough to make a good summer maxi dress!
Being pregnant, I love something comfy and this dress is! I shirred the top and added a tier at the bottom. However, I felt it sort of looked like a nightgown (or maybe it's just because I'm the size of a whale), so I added a sash to give it a little definition.

Zakka Sewing Kit

This week's Zakka project is a sewing kit. Another quick project for sewing on the go!

Chevron Rocket Quilt

I've been wanting to make a chevron quilt for awhile now. Once we found out that baby #3 is a boy, I was able to pick out some fabrics (Launch by Lesley Grainger Designs) and make it!

I think the main reason I wanted to make one was to do the echo quilting. So quick and easy!
