2 Month Old

Thursday, November 14, 2013

The babies are 2 months already!!!  I seriously can't believe how fast time flies.  It makes me a little sad.  They have been so much fun.  I think that I was so stressed and expecting the worst when I was pregnant.  So now, it has made real life seem quite easy. It helps that they are both good babies and that I have lots of help.  My older boys have really stepped up and helped out a lot and I really couldn't do it without such an amazing husband.
Most nights the babies are sleeping a 5 hour stretch from 10-3, so that's awesome.  Totally doable!!  I really thought I was going to be a walking zombie after two months.  There are benefits to me not nursing.   I don't have all of their statistics and stuff, but they are doing well and both will give you a smile. Although they are a little harder to coax one out of than I remember my other kids being.  Here's a couple of pictures I snapped of them this morning.  And a few others from their lifetime.

Love when I catch them smiling!

A few randoms, notice the difference from this picture to the one above.  He is loving the milk flow.  He's turning into such a chunker.

You have to dress them cute after an especially bad night.  It makes it easier to love them the next day!!
Image
Yep, they went hunting right along with the rest of the family!!
(I don't do hunting all cutsie, no makeup all week!)
Image
Yes, I was sneaking pictures at church.  I always want to capture the moments my kids have with my grandparents.  Love this lady!!
Image
Trick or Treat!!!  Two cutest chicks ever!
Image
Kade always has to be in the picture if I'm taking one.  He may be a little jealous.  Understandable considering.

I feel so blessed to have these two in our lives.  They have made me fall in love with babies all over again.

Ready or Not . . .

Wednesday, September 4, 2013

My goal was to be completely ready for the twins by the time I was 30 weeks.  That was later than the recommendations from all the reading I've done.  Well, life is not a book and these twins do have siblings so here we are at almost 36 weeks and 5 days and I've only been done with the nursery for a week or so.  Oh well, I'll just count my blessings that bed rest wasn't a part of this journey for me.  So here's how it turned out!

A fun little matching outfit I stole from pinterest.

I think we are actually ready.  I know 100% that I am because even on a day like today when my house is a mess and I'd be embarrassed if I went to the hospital and anyone came in and saw it, I just don't care enough to not wish with a little part of me that something would force labor to start today.  But actually I can wait,  because I'm really hoping to avoid any NICU time, since that means a life flight and a different hospital.
Baby A is still breech and we have a planned C-Section in 9 days.  I am thinking that anytime after 37 weeks is fair game though.  Although I'm sure my doctor wouldn't love to hear that.   The good news is I have plenty of things to do and kids to chase around to keep me busy so that days really are going by pretty fast.  I think the kids are as anxious as meet to meet these two little people that are joining our family.  I think Steve is still a little scared. . . It does seem surreal to me too.  But logistically, physically and emotionally I think we are ready.

Labor Day Without The Labor!

With the twins coming so soon, we decided that we'd better not venture too far for Labor Day this year.  But I still wanted out of the house and so we did a little staycation.

Friday night Sienna made her dancing debut!  This is the first time I've actually signed her up for any sort of a dance class or camp.  She enjoyed the practices okay, but loved getting makeup on and performing.

Image

I couldn't get very good pictures between the wind and her wiggling.  She was feeling the beat the whole time she was out there.  She shook her groovy thing whether it was her turn to dance or not.

Saturday we headed down to see some of the sites that I'm embarrassed to say I've never seen in all my years of living in San Juan County.  Our first stop was Sand Island and the Petroglyphs.

I think this picture is classic.  Steve's comment, "Really, I have to put up with this already?"  I think he is actually with me though and loves that Bronsen has an affinity towards music of all kinds.

Kids were all about pictures this day!

After a picnic we planned to let the kids swim in the river for a while. We weren't thinking about the fact that it has rained quite a bit lately and the river was moving a little more than we anticipated.  Of course we didn't think about bringing life jackets, but they had fun even if we didn't let them get in too far.

Then it was on to a drive through Valley of the Gods and Goosenecks State Park.

Sunday Steve took the opportunity to teach Sienna to ride a 2 wheeler! She's very excited and proud of herself.
Image

Monday was spent at Foy Lake picnicing and fishing.  Parker caught the first fish right off the bat.
Image

Steve missed a lot of bites, but I think he pulled in a few.
Image

And Bronsen found his sweet spot as well where he snagged a few.

I thought it was an enjoyable weekend.  It's nice to be able to get out and about without really doing too much.  I love that we live by the mountains and the desert because it provides such a variety of activities for us to enjoy.

We had more than a fair time!

Tuesday, August 13, 2013

This was the boys' first year to raise pigs for the county fair.  They had so much fun!!!

Getting their pigs ready to show.  This is Parker with his pig "4-Eyes"
Image

And Bronsen with his pig "Alpha"
Image

Parker ended up winning 2nd Reserve that got him this huge ribbon, and a belt buckle that he was super proud of.  Beginner's luck I guess!

Image

Image

Bronsen showed his pig well, and placed in the middle.  That's kind of where we were hoping/expecting to be.  He did well.

Image

A big thanks to John Deere, Cortez for buying Bronsen's pig and to Grandpa and Grandma Snyder along with Scott Mahaffey for buying Parker's!  I was seriously amazed at all of the hard work and effort so many people put into the fair.  They all had such a desire for these kids to have a good time and do well.  It's a great program that I'm sure we'll be a part of for a very long time to come.

When they weren't busy with pigs, they were busy enjoying the inflatable playground!

Summer Picture Overload

I haven't been to good at posting pics of this Summer, but we have actually left the house.  We always start the summer on Memorial Day weekend with a campout. This year was so perfect, lots of green, relaxing, good food, family, etc.

Image

Image

In June Steve had some training in Boulder, CO so I tagged along and had a little fun.  We golfed a couple of courses there, one of which was so beautiful I'm sure we'll be back.
Image

Image
We ate some pretty good food too!
Image

Steve and the boys have been building model rockets all spring and we finally found a day that wasn't so windy and let them off.
Image

Image

Only 1 Lake Powell trip this year. I only got a few pictures before I bailed, but look at that nice Catfish that Parker snagged!
Image
We did a lot of baseball. It's fun watching how much the boys improve year to year.  Parker was officially in machine pitch and did great.  He's an agressive little player and will play anywhere he gets to touch the ball the most, so he's thinking maybe catcher.  We'll see!
Image

Bronsen wanted to play pitcher and 3rd this year.  At the end of the year tournament he pitched the 2nd game and had his best pitching game ever.  These little boys are sure growing up.
Image

Image

Bronsen's lucky to have a dad that is willing to spend time coaching him.  I think they both enjoyed the time together.
Image
Our little team came out 4th.  They got a metal and everyone went home happy.  (We hope!)

Image

In July we headed up "north" to find a bigger ride for our growing family.  I was determined to do a few fun things while we were there.  So we headed to the zoo.
Image

 I love this picture!
Image

She's been called a monkey more than once in her life, but doesn't quite measure up to an orangatang.
Image

Image

This drinking fountain is what I have memories of when I was about 5.
Image

Image

How do you cap off a day at the zoo?  Chucky Cheese's of course!!!  My kids love this place.

Brittney and Zeb invited all of us up to Twin for a family campout.  We were sad that everyone wasn't able to come, but for those of us that did, we had a good time.

Grandpa gave Sienna the end of the melon and she was in heaven.
Image

Steve took over Cole's sleeping spot for an afternoon nap.
Image

 We painted some pottery.
Image

The highlight for my kids is always the horse rides.  They all love to ride horses, but Bronsen especially.  I'm amazed at the natural confidence he has on them.  I don't know where he gets it since he only gets to ride a couple times a year.  But he loves it!!

For the 4th of July we headed to the Pick N Hoe in Dove Creek.  The kids got lots of candy at the parade.
Image

Image

It was super fun to have Mark and Madison here to visit.
Image

Then we headed over to the games to get more than a little dirty!
Image

Image

There was a life flight helicopter that flew in and the kids got to climb inside and check it out.  They thought it was pretty cool.  Hopefully it's the only time any of them ever see the inside of one!
Image

Image

And the fireworks!  I didn't get many pictures, but this is my favorite part of the the 4th, and my favorite part of the fireworks is cuddling with my family.
Image

It's been a busy summer as usual.  We've had a lot of fun and I think we are ready for school to start!
