Marking Time, A Treading Water Series Novel Kindle Edition
Her life was torn down to the foundation. Rebuilding will take one small miracle at a time.
“Marking Time" continues the story begun in “Treading Water” as Clare Harrington begins a new life. She’s considered a miracle, but everything that’s happened since she recovered from a three-year coma has been something less than miraculous. Now left to grapple with the aftermath of a selfless decision, she is home from the hospital and trying to figure out what the next chapter in her miraculous recovery has in store for her.
Meanwhile, her eighteen-year-old daughter Kate, a talented singer and songwriter, sets out to pursue her musical dreams in Nashville. Her parents have agreed to allow Kate to spend a year there, but they couldn't have anticipated Kate falling in love with a much older man. Her newly divorced parents are forced back together to confront their wayward daughter. Spanning from Newport, Rhode Island, to Nashville, Tennessee, to Stowe, Vermont, "Marking Time" is the story of new beginnings and new loves.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 March 2018Format: Kindle EditionVerified PurchaseThis is a follow on book. Clare is trying to pick up the pieces after being in a coma for three years. She feels the loss of her marriage and the guilt of missing out on her daughters’ last three years of their lives.
As the book progresses it is not only about her own journey but also that of her middle daughter who is embarking on a new adventure. It is about letting go and finding new adventures in life.
A very well written book, emotional at times with good characters.
It’s lovely to read more about this family.
A great book in my opinion.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 April 2016Format: Kindle EditionVerified PurchaseA story of a family continues with focus on the mother who was in a coma in the first book. Some controversial issues are touched on.
The story flows through easily and I felt really connected to the characters in the book.
A good relaxing read, which left me wondering what happens next.

Sands KayReviewed in Germany on 2 May 20252.0 out of 5 stars Willkommen zur Märchenstunde…
Format: Kindle EditionVerified PurchaseEcht jetzt?

GatorfanReviewed in the United States on 16 April 20205.0 out of 5 stars great story, loved it
Format: Kindle EditionVerified PurchaseMARKING TIME is a standalone read in a series and has a happy ever after. There are sex scenes if that is an issue for you. Other things you may find offensive but for me they are all just a part of life and could happen any where to any one. Never know until you have been there. This story continues from Book 1. After reading this book, it will make the stories much better if you read in order. For me, I read Book 1 and immediately downloaded all the rest. I thought this book was GREAT. The story line had me and I could not put it down. I cried for Clare, I cried for her ex-husband and I cried for all they lost.
Clare was hit by a car and was put into a coma that she did not come out of. For 3 years she laid in a bed cared for by nurses. It took a long time for her children to get back to trying to live a normal life. After 3 year she suddenly woke up. Her girls had added 3 years to their life and they were no longer little girls that needed their mommy for every little thing. She also discovered her husband of 20+ years and the love of her life had fallen in love with another woman and they were now expecting twins.
She divorced him. It broke her heart to let him go but he was now in love with someone else and was sharing her life and bed. There was nothing she could do but let him go. If he no longer loved her even though they had a history then she didn't want him to be with her. She finally leaves the hospital to go home. Her girls and her mother are there to help her. Memories flood her mind every time she sees something at her house that reminds her of her life before. It is just a few months when she decides that in order for her to let Jack go she needs to get away from him and all the memories and find her life again. She has recovered from her ordeal with just a slight limp, she has been cleared to drive so she heads north to a home her brother has purchased but needs a lot of repairs. Tony has put her in charge of getting the house up to speed. It will give her a place to live where no one knows her and she can begin to heal.
First day in town she gets the name of the local guy that does beautiful work. Since money is not an object, she calls him and hires him. He is a little bit grumpy but she can live with that.
OMG I can't tell you how much I loved this story. I thought book 1 was good and it was, but this one was better. It has a lot of sad parts because of all Clare had to go through, all she lost, all she discovered and all she gained. Some tears are just sympathy tears, some are just for very moving moments and some are just because the moment was sad. I loved the story and I definitely recommend this book as well as the first one. You will not be sorry for buying this series. All good stories and all things that could happen in every day life. Great read. Very entertaining and interesting. I can't stop thinking about these people!!
I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 4/15/2020

Format: Kindle EditionVerified PurchaseWhat can I say except that this was a superb book! Not at all what I expected. The characters are so well developed, and you feel like you know all of them. What a story, all the twists and turns keep you reading till the end, then, you could read on and on if there was more. I highly recommend this author.

Format: Kindle EditionVerified PurchaseThis book could have been the best of the series however i found that the second plot featuring Clare's daughter Kate took prevalence.. It would have been better to see more of Aidan & Clare developing their lives rather than to see Kate & Reid move through with story. But still, i vastly enjoyed the book. It had all the elements of surprise, love, anger, success and patience. I find myself eagerly looking forward to reading the story on Kate & Reid.
