Rush é unha banda canadense de rock progresivo formada en agosto de 1968 na veciñanza de Willowdale de Toronto, Ontario. Actualmente está composta polo baixista, teclista e vocalista Geddy Lee, o guitarrista Alex Lifeson e o batería Neil Peart. A banda sufriu moitos cambios na súa formación entre 1968 e 1974, acadando a súa forma definitiva cando Neil Peart substituíu o batería orixinal John Rutsey en xullo de 1974, dúas semanas antes da súa primeira xira polos Estados Unidos.

Dende a edición do seu álbum de estrea en marzo de 1974, Rush fíxose coñecida polas habilidades instrumentais dos seus membros, as súas complexas composicións, e os seus eclécticos motivos líricos con grandes doses de ciencia ficción, fantasía e filosofía, e que tamén abordan temas humanitarios, sociais e medioambientais. O estilo musical de Rush foi cambiando ao longo dos anos, comezando cun heavy metal inspirado no blues no seu primeiro álbum, e abarcando posteriormente hard rock, rock progresivo e incluso pasando por un período cun forte uso dos sintetizadores. A banda foi citada como influencia de varios artistas musicais, como Metallica, Primus, Rage Against the Machine e The Smashing Pumpkins, así como os grupos de metal progresivo Dream Theater e Symphony X.
